Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnet roll which surely and magnetically seal magnetic developer despite of a simple structure by providing a magnetic field forming means which forms the magnetic field around the outer circumferential face of the magnet roll on a flange member. SOLUTION: A recessed groove 14 is provided in the adjacent to the outer circumferential face of a flange member 4 in such a state as being opened to its inner end face into a ring shape. A permanent magnet 15 is formed into a ring shape, for example, by a ferrite magnet and fittedly fixed in the recessed groove 14, for example, via adhesive. Ten magnetic poles are provided with their S, N arranged alternately in the circumferential direction of the outer circumferential face in the permanent magnet 15 and the magnetic induction on the surface of a sleeve 3 is formed to become, for example, 12mT. Naturally, the permanent magnet 15 is provided in the both ends of the sleeve 3. A magnetic field forming means which forms a magnetic field around the outer circumferential face of the magnet roll is thus provided on the flange member 4. The magnetic developer can thus stay on the surface of the sleeve 3 just above the permanent magnet 15 and prevent it from leaking to the outside.

In the developing device having the above-mentioned structure, the developer (not shown) which is accommodated in the developer tank 11 and is present in the vicinity of the magnet roll 7 is provided with a spike regulating member (doctor member). It is easy to accumulate at the end of the sleeve 3 during the developing operation due to the agitating member and the like. For this reason, an elastic member 10 is provided between the side plate 8 and the end of the sleeve 3,
This prevents the developer from leaking to the outside.

With the above configuration, the magnetic developer can be magnetically sealed. However, the permanent magnet 12
Is small in thickness, making it complicated to manufacture,
There is a disadvantage that it is difficult to align the outer peripheral surface with the outer peripheral surface of the sleeve 3. Further, since it is a rubber magnet, there is a problem that the wear resistance is low, it is difficult to withstand long-time use, and the reliability is low.

In the present invention, it is preferable that the magnetic field forming means is formed in a ring shape or a sheet shape, that eight or more magnetic poles are provided in the circumferential direction, and that the magnetic field on the outer peripheral surface of the magnet roll has a magnetic flux density of 10 mT or more. . The number of magnetic poles is less than 8 and the magnetic flux density on the sleeve surface is 1
If it is less than 0 mT, the magnetic sealing action is insufficient, which is not preferable.
