Description of the Related Art The use of radio waves has been rapidly increasing in recent years, especially in the field of mobile communications such as mobile phones, in keeping with the progress of the advanced information society. If the PHS (Personal Handy Phone System) and wireless LAN, which have already been put into practical use, become more widespread, this trend is expected to accelerate further.

The electromagnetic wave shield prevents electromagnetic waves from entering the inside and radiating to the outside by reflection, and is coated with a metal or coated with a conductive paint. However, there is a disadvantage that the trapped electromagnetic waves easily cause interference inside the device, and the effect is reduced by a small gap, so that leakage from the seam or the joint greatly affects the effect. Therefore, a radio wave absorber having an effect of reducing a reflected wave and a transmitted wave with absorption has been attracting attention.

Generally, as a radio wave absorber, a sintered body of ferrite, a magnetic powder such as ferrite, or a radio wave absorbing material such as carbon black or a dielectric material dispersed in a synthetic resin or rubber are known. Currently used ferrite sintered bodies are heavy and therefore have problems in workability and workability, and the range of use is limited because the radio wave absorption characteristics in the microwave region are significantly reduced. Therefore, ship radar (mainly 9.4
As a countermeasure against electromagnetic wave interference using microwaves (such as using radio waves of GHz), carbon black or carbonyl iron dispersed in rubber or synthetic resin is generally used.

Not suitable for internal use. On the other hand, those in which carbon black is dispersed in rubber or resin are lighter and more flexible than those using ferrite, carbonyl iron, etc., but generally have a narrow band, and the absorption band is also in the X band (8 to 12). .

By changing the electrical characteristics such as the amount, shape or electrical resistance of the carbon fiber, the ratio of the real part εr ′ to the imaginary part εr ″ of the dielectric constant, tan δ (= εr ″ / ε)
It has been found that r ′) can be adjusted, and that sufficient characteristics can be exhibited in the L band and S band used for mobile communication, and the present invention has been completed. Further, by using composite particles of crystalline graphite and amorphous carbon black as carbon black, the carbon black has a low complex and a high complex dielectric constant, thereby realizing a reduction in thickness and weight.

The composite particles are obtained by treating carbon black at a high temperature and gradually crystallizing from the particle surface into graphite. Therefore, the volume decreases during the process of crystallization from amorphous to crystalline, and voids are generally present in the center of the particles. Further, in the composite particles composed of the crystalline graphite and the amorphous carbon black, the abundance ratio (graphitization ratio) of the crystalline graphite calculated from the peak area of the (002) plane in the X-ray diffraction pattern is reduced. It is preferably from 5 to 90%.

When the particle size is 10 nm or more, dispersion in the resin is easy, and when the particle size is 10 μm or less, unevenness or reduction in absorption characteristics due to the small number of particles contained per unit volume is observed. Can not be.

It is desirable to be within the range of m. When the fiber length is 1 μm or more, the effect on the absorption characteristics is large, and when the fiber length is 5 mm or less, aggregation becomes difficult and dispersion becomes easy. On the other hand, when the fiber diameter is 0.1 μm or more, the strength of the carbon fiber is increased, and the fiber is less likely to be broken during dispersion in the resin. The anisotropy of the absorption characteristics is less likely to occur.

It is desirable that the total content of the fibers is 80% by weight or less. When the content of carbon black and carbon fiber is 1% by weight, no unevenness or reduction in absorption characteristics is observed, and when the content of carbon black and carbon fiber is 50% by weight or less or the total content is 80% by weight or less. If it is, problems such as a decrease in flexibility and cracks in the molded body will not be observed.

As shown in FIG. 5, the conventional electromagnetic wave absorber exhibited excellent absorption characteristics even in the L band and S band where sufficient characteristics were not obtained.
Also, as can be seen by comparing Example 1 and Comparative Example 3,
The radio wave absorber of the present invention, by adding carbon fiber,
It was possible to achieve a reduction in thickness as compared with a radio wave absorber composed of a resin in which composite particles composed of crystalline graphite and amorphous carbon black containing no carbon fiber were mixed with a resin. Since the radio wave absorber of the present invention has a lower filling than conventional products, it does not lower the physical properties of the formed body and coating film, and is excellent in flexibility by being blended with a flexible resin as shown in the examples. It is possible to produce a radio wave absorber that can be installed in places where conventional products cannot be installed, such as curved surfaces.
