[0003] In the conventional branching method described above, the method of screwing a service cheese directly to the main pipe has a problem in terms of earthquake resistance and the like. When a saddle is used, welding work is required, and a clamp is used. In the case of the method, there is a drawback that, for example, it is necessary to excavate a large working groove, and the mounting of the clamp is troublesome due to an increase in the size of the clamp portion. Therefore, there has been proposed a method (a branch joint for pipes) in which a long hole is bored in the main pipe, a saddle-shaped main body is attached thereto using a fastening member, and a supply pipe (branch pipe) is connected to the main body. However, in the case of the known example described in the above-mentioned publication, it is necessary to drill a long hole in the existing piping. It is necessary to make a hole with a hole saw, or to process these two holes into a continuous hole to finish it into a long hole, which is very troublesome. Further, in this known example, since the second fastening member is incorporated in the existing pipe, there is a problem that this becomes an obstacle and causes a pressure loss of gas.

The branch port is bored in the existing pipe, the distal end of the fixed foot with the legs closed from the branch port is inserted into the pipe, and the joint port of the joint body is set so as to cover the branch port.
In this state, when the bolt is rotated from the outside of the joint body and the leg-opening nut is raised along the bolt, the fixed foot gradually opens as this rises, and eventually the inner leg of the branch port stops and the leg stops. .

Next, when the joint body is removed from the pipe, when the bolt is rotated in the reverse direction as before, the nut for opening the leg is lowered, and the fixed foot is lowered with this, and the balance (own weight) is maintained. The legs are closed, and the engaging portion is disengaged from the inner peripheral edge of the branch port. Therefore, if the joint itself is pulled upward as it is, the joint main body is easily detached from the pipe.

The joint according to the present invention has the following effects by the above configuration and operation. 1. The branch hole to be drilled in the pipe may be a single perfect circle, so that it does not take much time to drill the branch hole. 2. Since the joint can be easily attached to the piping without using a clamp, the number and time required for attaching the joint are reduced by half as compared with the case where the clamp is used.
