Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device equipped with means capable of surely separate a paper sheet from a fixing roller. SOLUTION: As for the fixing device, a holding member 10 pivotally supporting a separating pawl 4 in swingingly is provided integrally with an upper guide member 11. The upper guide member 11 is also pivotally and swingably supported. The separating pawl 4 and the upper guide member 11 swingably energized by pressure spring 8, make a tip part of the separating pawl 4 brought into press contact with the fixing roller 1. A detection lever of a sensor 20 provided above the separating pawl 4 and the upper guide member 11, and held in contact with the holding member 10 of the separating pawl 4, is pushed up together with the separating pawl 4 and the upper guide member 11 when the separating pawl 4 and the upper guide member 11 are moved upward, and then the sensor main body 23 detects this movement and stops the fixing roller 1. When a degree of contact of the paper sheet P corresponding to the fixing roller 1 becomes large and the leading end of the paper sheet P pushes up the separating pawl 4, the pressing force of the separating pawl 4 toward the fixing roller 1 becomes larger, and thus the paper sheet P is separated from the fixing roller 1, transported and discharged.

2. Description of the Related Art Various types of fixing devices of this type have been proposed in order to prevent paper from being wound around a fixing roller. For example, the device disclosed in Japanese Patent Publication No. Hei 8-29873 has a movable anti-winding member provided in contact with the fixing roller and a guide portion for guiding the anti-winding member,
The guide portion has a U-shape, and when the recording material is jammed, the winding prevention member is entirely separated from the fixing roller along the guide portion by the pressing force of the recording material. There is also one disclosed in JP-A-60-134265. In this device, the support shaft of the anti-winding piece is movably provided so that the anti-winding piece can move to the rear of the guide member (paper guide member).

[Problems to be solved by the invention] Japanese Patent Publication No. Hei 8-29873
As shown in FIG. 7, the apparatus disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open Publication No. H11-209334 allows a separation claw 4 which is a winding prevention member provided in contact with the fixing roller 1 to move along a V-shaped guide member so that paper can be moved. When a jam occurs, the separation claw 4
Is moved so that the entire separation claw 4 is separated from the fixing roller 1, so that it is effective when the sheet P is jammed in a bellows shape as shown in FIG. In FIG. 8, 2 is a heater, 3 is a lower fixing roller (also referred to as a pressure roller), 5 is an upper guide member, and 6 is a lower guide member. The separation claw 4 for preventing paper wrapping which comes into contact with the fixing roller 1 is pivotally supported so as to be swingable, and one end thereof is urged so as to come into contact with the fixing roller 1 and can be moved upward.

However, if there is an image on the leading edge of the paper P,
Due to the adhesion between the toner and the fixing roller 1, the leading end of the sheet becomes strong, and it is difficult for the separation claw 4 to peel off. In consideration of this point, generally, an image is not formed at the leading end of the paper to facilitate separation. However, there is a case where an image is formed at the leading end due to the registration deviation of the paper P, or the leading end becomes black due to background contamination. In such a case, the paper P easily winds around the fixing roller 1, and the separation claw 4 is moved as shown in FIG. Will push it up. Separating claw 4 from the state of FIG.
Is pushed up, the separation claw 4 separates from the fixing roller 1, so that the sheet P is completely wound around the fixing roller 1. Then, the jam removal becomes extremely poor, and such a situation must be avoided.

In the apparatus disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 60-134265, a fulcrum shaft of a winding prevention piece is provided so as to be movable, so that the separation claw 4 can be moved rearward from the upper guide member 5. . However, this apparatus is also effective when the paper P is jammed in a bellows shape. However, when an image is present at the leading end of the paper P, the separation claw 4 is pushed up, and the leading end of the paper P comes to the rear of the upper guide member 5, Although it can be separated by the separation claw 4, as shown in FIG.
The paper P will be caught on the leading end and jammed.

For this reason, when the separation claw 4 moves to a certain position, the sensor body 23 detects the movement of the detection lever 21 and stops the fixing roller 1. Since it does not come off the sensor body 23, it is not detected. Specifically, position O shown in FIG.
Reference numeral 1 denotes a normal position of the separation claw 4 and the sensor 20 does not operate at the position O2. If the position to be detected is not too far from the position O1, even a sheet having a small adhesive force with the fixing roller 1 operates as a jam, so that it is necessary to appropriately adjust the sheet.

The operation of the above embodiment of the present invention will be described. The normal separation and transport state of the sheet P is as shown in FIG. 4, and the separation claw 4 is not pushed up and is at a fixed position. However, when an image is formed on the leading edge of the sheet P, the degree of adhesion between the fixing roller 1 and the sheet P increases, and the separation claw 4 is pushed up against the urging force of the pressure spring 8. When the paper P pushes up the separation claw 4, the pressing force of the separation claw 4 against the fixing roller 1 increases, whereupon the paper P separates from the fixing roller 1, and as shown in FIG.
It is transported between 1 and 14 and discharged. At this time, the separation claw 4
And the upper guide member 11 move integrally, so that the separation claw 4 moves to the rear in the sheet conveyance direction more than the upper guide member 11, and the sheet P does not get caught on the guide member.

As described above, the rotation of the fixing roller 1 is stopped by detecting the movement of either the separation claw 4 or the upper guide member 11. However, when the movement of the separation claw 4 is large, the fixing roller 1 is stopped. This is a case where the adhesion of the sheet P is large or a case where the paper P is jammed in a bellows shape as shown in FIG. In such a case, if the machine is stopped immediately, the paper P is wound around the fixing roller 1 or jammed in a bellows shape, thereby preventing the fixing roller 1 from being damaged by the separation claw 4.

According to the first aspect of the present invention, as described above, the guide member is also moved by the movement of the separation claw. The paper is smoothly ejected without being caught, and even if the paper jams in a bellows shape, the guide member and the separation claw move together, so that the fixing claw can be prevented from being damaged by the separation claw. This has the effect.

The fixing device according to the second aspect detects the movement of the separation claw or the movement of the guide member as described above, and thereby stops the rotation of the fixing roller. In addition, the fixing roller can be stopped immediately before the paper is wound around the fixing roller or immediately before the paper enters a bellows-like jam state, so that the winding jam and the bellows-like jam can be prevented, and the separation claw may damage the fixing roller, There is an effect that the difficulty of the jam processing can be avoided.
