Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a need for bending and a secondary reinforcing material and to improve sealing ability by a method wherein a knitting yarn consists of composite structure comprising an expansion graphite tape being a single layer and formed in a sheet-form manner on a whole and having a specified thickness and width increased specified times as long as the thickness; and a reinforcing material formed of knitted or braided substance. SOLUTION: A using expansion graphite tape 1 is a single layer and formed in a sheet-form manner on a whole and the thickness (a) thereof is set to 0.38mm or more, and width (b) is also set in a range of 3-25 times as large as the thickness. This constitution provides a strength to prevent the occurrence of breakage during braiding and prevents a sectional area from being increased not more than necessary to a knitting yarn (prevents the increase of the size of a yarn). The whole of the outer periphery of the surface of the tape 1 is covered with a reinforcing material 2, such as a fine metallic wire, a metal netting, metallic fibers, and yarns and fibers, through braiding or knitting to form a knitting yarn 3 for packing. The knitting yarns 3 are braided to produce a string-form packing or formed in an annular state for molding.

2. Description of the Related Art As a conventional packing knitting yarn and packing knitted with this knitting yarn, there are the followings. (I) For example, as disclosed in JP-A-4-25671, an expanded graphite tape is mountain-folded and valley-folded in the longitudinal direction, and the entire outer periphery thereof is covered with a reinforcing material. (Ii) For example, as disclosed in JP-A-63-1863, a plurality of expanded graphite tapes cut to a width of 5 mm or less were laminated, and the surface of the laminate was knitted or bag knitted. (Iii) For example, as disclosed in JP-A-6-74346, an expanded graphite tape cut into a piece having a width of 5 mm or more was covered with reinforcing fibers and folded in two.

Conventionally, a knitting yarn which constitutes a fibrous blade (cover) packing has a yarn diameter of 0.8 or 1.6 mm,
The cross-sectional areas were 0.5 mm 2 and 2 mm 2 . The cross-sectional shape of this knitting yarn is most preferably round, and a rectangle close to it is next. However, if an expanded graphite tape is used as the knitting yarn, even if the expanded graphite tape is made to have a cross-sectional area of 2 mm 2 or less, the strength is small, the brittleness is liable to be broken, and thus the work for forming the required knitting yarn is required. It was difficult.

In the prior art example (i), the expanded graphite tape is brittle and weak in strength. Therefore, when the tape is bent in the longitudinal direction, the knitting yarn is broken or peeled off. Processing work is difficult. Further, in the above-mentioned conventional example (ii), when cut to a width of 5 mm or less
Similarly, breakage is likely to occur, and even if a plurality of laminated tapes are laminated and the laminated tapes are covered with reinforcing fibers, the tapes are cut off during the work and slippage occurs between the layers, so that the braiding process is difficult. Further, when the expanded graphite tape having a width of 5 mm or more is covered with the reinforcing fibers and folded in half as in the conventional example (iii), the expanded graphite has low strength and is difficult to process as a brittle material (i. ), (Ii) same as the conventional example,
Moreover, the process of folding in half must be added. Further, when the tape width is increased, when the tape is braided, the surface stitches are coarse and the sealing property is deteriorated. Further, generally, the conventional knitting yarn for packing has a defect that the expanded graphite tape is broken in the reinforcing knitted bag made of the fiber material due to the tension applied during the braiding process, and the density thereof varies.

In order to achieve the above object, the packing knitting yarn of the present invention has a flat plate shape as a whole as a single layer, and has a thickness of 0.38 mm or more and a width of The gist is that the knitting yarn is formed by a composite structure of the expanded graphite tape in the range of 3 to 25 times the above and a reinforcing material made of a knit knit or a braid covering the entire outer circumference of the expanded graphite tape. In the packing of the present invention, the outer periphery of a core member made of a braided or rod-shaped molded product with the above-described knitting yarn is bag-knitted with the knitting yarn, or these braided or bag-knitted cords are ring-shaped. The gist is that it is compression molded into a shape.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION In the embodiment of the present invention, the expanded graphite tape used is a single layer and has a flat plate shape as a whole, and may be folded in two or more as in the conventional example. It is not necessary to stack them.
Since the tape has a thickness of 0.38 mm or more and a width in the range of 3 to 25 times the thickness, a strength that does not break during braiding is obtained, and the tape is cut more than necessary as a knitting yarn. Area does not become large (thread does not become thick).

The entire outer periphery of the surface of the tape is a fine gold wire,
A braid, a knit, or the like is covered with a reinforcing material such as a wire net, metal fibers and threads, or fibers to obtain a packing knitting thread. This braiding thread is braided to obtain a string-like packing, or processed into a ring shape and formed. Although the tape is not folded or shrunk in the length direction, it may be corrugated.

As the reinforcing fiber 2, for example, a metal thin wire of stainless steel SUS306-L material having a diameter of 0.08 mm is used, and 16 pieces of this are knitted as a knitting thread 3 into a bag. As the metal fine wire as the reinforcing fiber 2, heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant stainless steel, Inconel or Monel wire can be used.

For applications where heat resistance is not required, copper,
You may use brass, aluminum wire, etc. Further, the wire diameter affects the cuttability of the packing, so a thin wire is preferable, but in order to secure the strength when taking out the packing after processing,
05-0.5 mm is suitable. In addition, as the tape 1, the thickness a = 0.5 mm, the width b = 5.2 mm, the tape cross-sectional area 2.6 mm 2 , b / a = 10.4, and the other conditions are as described above. , Has a similar effect.

EFFECTS OF THE INVENTION By using the packing knitting yarn as described above, the present invention provides the following practically excellent effects. (A) Since bending of the expanded graphite tape is not necessary, at least one processing step can be omitted and not only productivity is improved, but also the defective rate caused by cutting of the material by bending processing is reduced and cost can be reduced. it can. (B) The tape is thick, does not need to be cut into narrow widths, and has high strength, so that it is difficult to break and workability and handleability are improved. Moreover, the strength is high, and the braiding speed of the reinforcing fibers can be increased. (C) Since the knitting yarn is uniform, the braided string-like packing has a clean surface, and the sealing property is good and stable. (D) Since the strength is increased, a secondary reinforcing material other than the reinforcing material for covering the surface is unnecessary.
