2. Description of the Related Art A water-absorbent resin has an absorption performance, a water retention capability,
Utilizing the gelling ability, absorbent articles such as disposable diapers, incontinence pads, sanitary napkins, breast milk pads, etc., pet sheets, pet floor sand, excrement disposal agents, waste blood gelling agents, drip absorbents It is used in various applications such as a freshness preservative. However, the conventional water-absorbent resin has excellent ability to absorb and retain urine, blood, body fluid, etc., but does not have an antibacterial function. Therefore, when absorbing urine, blood, body fluid, etc., there is a problem that organic substances are decomposed by fungi or microorganisms contained in the absorption liquid, and the decomposition products cause generation of bad odor, skin irritation, rash and the like. Furthermore, the absorbing gel is easily decomposed by fungi or microorganisms contained in the absorption liquid or bacteria in the air, and the malodor may be emitted due to the decomposition. From the above, from the viewpoint of hygiene and safety, the emergence of a material satisfying both the absorption function and the antibacterial function has been demanded. In particular, in absorbent articles such as adult paper diapers used for bedridden old people and sick people, the problems of bad odor and rash are serious, and a solution is desired. As a method of exhibiting an effect close to the above, a mixture of powders of a water-absorbent resin and zeolite (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. Sho 5).
7-25813, JP-A-59-179114, JP-A-59-189854), and a composition in which activated carbon is coated with a water-absorbent resin (JP-A-56-314).
No. 25), a composition comprising a water-absorbent resin and a deodorant component extracted from a plant of theaceae family (JP-A-60-15886).
No. 1), a water-absorbent resin composition containing a specific antibacterial agent (benzalkonium chloride, chlorhexidine glycolate, phosphate compound, etc.) (Japanese Patent Publication No. 4-17058).
JP-A-5-179053) and the like, and their application to absorbent articles have been proposed.

However, these compositions have not always been able to obtain the effect of preventing the generation of bad odor and the effect of inhibiting spoilage, which are satisfactory for application to absorbent articles. That is, the mixture of the water-absorbent resin and zeolite,
Although the generated malodor can be absorbed, neither the water-absorbent resin nor the zeolite has an antibacterial function, thus suppressing the decomposition and decay of organic substances by microorganisms and fungi,
It is not possible to prevent the generation of this odorous product and the odor due to decomposition. Therefore, even when applied to an absorbent article, skin irritation, a rash, etc. could not be suppressed. In the case of a composition in which activated carbon is coated with a water absorbent resin or a composition comprising a water absorbent resin and a deodorant component extracted from theaceae plant, the deodorant component extracted from the activated carbon and the camellia plant has an antibacterial function. Since it is not shown, the same results as in the case of the above-mentioned zeolite are obtained, and it is not possible to suppress the decomposition and decay of organic substances by microorganisms and fungi. Although the water-absorbent resin composition containing benzalkonium chloride or a phosphate compound has some antibacterial action, it is not always satisfactory because the types of fungi and microorganisms to which it is applied are limited.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION In the present invention, since the water absorbent resin (A) is expected to have an ammonia adsorption function,
A water-absorbent resin having a carboxylic acid group in its constituent unit is preferable, and its type and manufacturing method are not particularly limited. Examples of (A) that can be preferably used in the present invention are: Japanese Patent Publication No. 53-46199 and Japanese Patent Publication No. 53-46200.
Crosslinked products of starch-acrylic acid (salt) copolymers described in JP-A Nos. 54-30710 and 56-26909.
Cross-linked or self-cross-linked polyacrylic acid salt by the reverse phase suspension polymerization method described in JP-A No. 55-133413; Aqueous solution polymerization (adiabatic polymerization, thin-film polymerization, spray polymerization, etc.) Crosslinked polyacrylic acid (salt) obtained by the method of JP-A-52-14689 and JP-A-52-27455.
Saponification products of copolymers of vinyl esters and unsaturated carboxylic acids or their derivatives described in JP-A Nos. 58-2312 and 61-36309.
Crosslinked polyacrylic acid (salt) obtained by copolymerizing a sulfonic acid (salt) group-containing monomer described in each publication, etc.;-Isobutylene-maleic anhydride copolymer crosslinked product; -hydrolyzate of starch-acrylonitrile copolymer -Cross-linked carboxymethyl cellulose derivative-Cross-linked copolymer of acrylic acid (salt) and acrylamide. Two or more of the above water-absorbing resins may be used in combination. Further, a surface-crosslinking type water-absorbent resin obtained by further surface-crosslinking the surface vicinity of the water-absorbent resin powder can also be suitably used in the present invention. In the above, the salt is usually a sodium salt and / or a potassium salt, but may be an organic salt such as an ammonium salt or an amine salt depending on the use. Among these, preferred are water-insoluble water-absorbent resins containing acrylic acid and acrylate as main constituent units in that they exhibit relatively large absorption capacity.

In a water-insoluble water-absorbent resin containing acrylic acid and an acrylic acid salt as main constituent units, the acrylic acid component is at least 20 to 50 mol% based on the total of the acrylic acid component and the acrylic acid salt component. Is preferred.
More preferably, the acrylic acid component molar ratio is 25 to 40.
Mol%. In this way, leaving the acrylic acid unit in the water-absorbent resin has an accompanying effect that the carboxyl group of the acrylic acid component adsorbs ammonia or the like which is a kind of odor component. The molar ratio of acrylic acid units to the total of acrylic acid components and acrylate components is 5
When it exceeds 0, the absorption performance is lowered and the pH of the obtained antibacterial water-absorbing agent composition becomes acidic, which is not preferable in terms of safety to the skin. On the other hand, when the molar ratio of acrylic acid units is less than 20, the effect of adsorbing ammonia and the like becomes poor, and the pH of the obtained antibacterial water-absorbing agent composition becomes alkaline, and in this case as well, it is preferable in terms of safety to the skin. Absent.

Since the ratio of (B) with respect to the total mass of 5 is already 5% by mass, a sufficient antibacterial effect is already exhibited. Therefore, even if the ratio is further increased, the antibacterial effect does not change and only the absorption performance decreases.
Therefore, the composition of the present invention must be added in a large amount in order to apply the composition to an absorbent article and ensure a certain absorption performance, which is not economical.

Examples of the method for producing the antibacterial water-absorbing agent composition of the present invention in which (B) is incorporated or carried in (A) include the following (1) to (5). (1) A method in which (B) is kneaded with the hydrogel of (A) obtained by absorbing water, dried and pulverized. (2) A method of kneading (B) with the hydrogel polymer obtained in the production step of (A), drying and pulverizing. (3) A method in which the aqueous liquid or dispersion of (B) is added to the powder of (A), mixed, and supported without heating. (4) After mixing the powder of (A) and (B) in advance,
A method in which a small amount of water is added and the particles are supported without drying. (5) A method of adding the aqueous solution or dispersion of (B) to (A) and mixing them without heating. By the method of dispersing (B) in the polymerization liquid obtained in the production step of (A), then polymerizing, drying and pulverizing,
Although a composition in which (B) is incorporated or carried in (A) is obtained, this method is not preferable because the antibacterial effect of (B) may be deactivated during polymerization. The preferred manufacturing method is (3), in that the steps of drying and crushing are unnecessary.
It is the method of (4) and (5).

As a method of exhibiting not only water absorption performance and antibacterial performance but also excellent powder handling property, the present inventors have made the powder of the water absorbent resin (A) an aqueous solution of the antibacterial component (B) or A method in which an aqueous dispersion is subjected to a mixing treatment, and an antibacterial component is impregnated or adsorbed in the vicinity of the surface of the water-absorbent resin powder and supported thereon, and then a fine particle inorganic substance (C) is mixed and fixed on the surface of (A), Alternatively, an excellent method is to knead the water-containing gel of the water-absorbent resin (A) with the antibacterial component (B), dry and pulverize the mixture, and then mix the particulate inorganic substance (C) and fix it to the surface of (A). I found it.

Examples of the fine particle inorganic substance (C) include fine particles such as silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide, magnesium oxide, aluminum silicate and magnesium silicate. Preferred as (C) is hydrophilic silicon dioxide. Particularly preferred is hydrophilic silica dioxide, called dry silica, having an average primary particle diameter of 50 to 450 mμ, a specific surface area of 50 to 450 m 2 / g, and a hydrophilicity of 70% or more. The amount of (C) used is usually 0.05 to 5% by mass, preferably 0.1 to 2% by mass, based on the antibacterial water absorbing agent composition. There is no particular limitation on the industrial apparatus for further treating (B) in which (A) is incorporated or carried by (C), and conventionally known apparatuses can be used. For example, a kneader, a universal mixer, a tybulizer, a Nauter type mixer, a ribbon blender, a conical blender, a V type mixer, a screw type mixer and the like can be mentioned. When (A) is mixed with (C) in advance and then treated with an antibacterial component, the antibacterial component becomes (C).
(C) containing an antibacterial component is produced. Since this product is easily separated from (A), the dust generation during handling becomes high and the variation in antibacterial performance becomes large. Also, (C) on the surface of (A)
Becomes uneven and the amount of (C) fixed on the surface of (A) decreases due to the release of the above product. Water-absorbent resins tend to block each other, resulting in poor powder handling properties).

(1) Absorption capacity: 1 g of a sample was placed in a 250-mesh nylon net tea bag, which was immersed in an excess of physiological saline (0.9% saline) for 1 hour for absorption, and then pulled up. And drain for 15 minutes to measure the increased mass. This increased mass was taken as the amount of absorption. (2) Antibacterial property test of antibacterial water absorbing agent composition: 300 cc
3.45 g of sensitive broth medium and 150 m of water in a flask
After adding 1 and dissolving, sterilize by autoclave. After adding 1 g of the test sample to the above medium and swelling with stirring,
Escherichia coli was inoculated so that the number of bacteria was 1 × 10 6 cells / ml. This sample is shake-cultured at 37 ° C., sampled after 2 hours and 10 hours, and serially diluted with sterile physiological saline if necessary. The number of bacteria is measured by the mixed plane culture method. Put 1 ml each of the above sample or diluted product into a sterile petri dish, and then add 20 ml of agar medium.
Pour, uniformly disperse and solidify on a petri dish, and culture at 37 ° C. for 2 days. After culturing, the colonies are counted and the dilution ratio is multiplied to obtain the viable cell count. As a blank, the viable cell count in the case of inoculating only E. coli without adding the test sample was 5 × 10 8 cells / ml after 2 hours and 6 × 10 9 cells / ml after 10 hours.
ml. Similarly, the antibacterial properties of the ammonia-producing bacteria were tested. As a blank, the viable cell count when inoculated with only ammonia-producing bacteria without adding the test sample was 8 × 10 8 cells / ml after 2 hours and 9 after 10 hours.
× 10 9 cells / ml. (3) Dust generation: 50 g of a sample is dropped through a triangular funnel into the center of a glass suction bottle (capacity: 500 ml) to which a dust measuring instrument is connected, and the amount of dust generated by the fall is sucked into the dust measuring instrument. Count the number. The number of dust particles counted per minute is defined as dust generation property (unit: CPM). (4) Effect confirmation test of the absorbent article to which the antibacterial water-absorbing agent composition is applied: -Production of the absorbent article: A polyethylene sheet cut into a rectangle of 14 cm x 35 cm, a tissue sheet of the same size and a basis weight of 100 g / Overlay m 2 of fluff pulp. Then, 10 g of the sample is evenly spread on the fluff pulp, and further, the fluff pulp having a basis weight of 50 g / m 2 , the tissue paper and the non-woven fabric are superposed in this order. This laminate is pressed at a pressure of 5 kg / cm 2 for 90 seconds to produce a model paper diaper.・ Odor prevention effect test: 80 ml of fresh urine was added to the center of the absorbent article to which the antibacterial water-absorbing agent composition was applied, placed in a 5 liter wide-mouth bottle, sealed, and stored for 10 hours in a thermostat set at 40 ° C. To do. After that, the lid of the bottle is opened in an odorless room to smell the odor, and the odor intensity is evaluated in the following 6 stages. Evaluation is carried out by 10 panelists whose odor judgment ability has been confirmed by the T & T Olfactometer method, and the average value is obtained. 0: Odorless 1: Smell that can be finally sensed (sensitivity value concentration) 2: Weak odor that you can understand what odor (cognitive value value concentration) 3: Comfortable odor 4: Strong odor 5: Strong odor (5) Absorbability Performance test of the article: Absorption: The absorbent is immersed in a large excess of physiological saline for 30 minutes, then placed on a wire net and subjected to a load of 10 kg for 20 minutes for draining, and the increased mass is taken as the absorption. -Rewetting amount: 50 ml of artificial urine is poured into the center of the model paper diaper. 10 minutes later, 10cm ×
2. Place 10 pieces of 10 cm filter paper on top of each other and
Apply a load of 5 kg. After 3 minutes, the increased mass of the filter paper is measured, and this value is used as the rewet amount. The smaller the rewet amount, the better the performance of the absorbent article (surface dry feeling).

The antibacterial water absorbing composition of the present invention has the following features and effects. Not only an absorption function, but also an excellent antibacterial function is simultaneously expressed. The antibacterial component can suppress decomposition and decay of organic matter contained in urine, blood, body fluid, and the like absorbed by the water-absorbent resin by fungi, microorganisms, bacteria, and the like. As a result of suppression of decay, generation of offensive odor is small. Unlike the powder mixture of (A) and (B), separation of the two occurs due to vibration or impact, and when applied to the absorbent article, the water-absorbent resin and the antibacterial component are ubiquitous in the absorbent article. There is no need to worry. Since a composition having low dusting properties and excellent moisture blocking resistance is obtained, handling properties are good. It can be applied to an absorbent article by the same operation as a conventional water absorbent resin. By applying it to absorbent articles such as paper diapers and sanitary products, it is possible to impart an antibacterial function to the absorbent article and suppress the generation of foul odors, and reduce the occurrence of skin irritation and rashes. The performance is also good. The water-containing gel of (A) is kneaded with (B), dried and crushed. The aqueous liquid or dispersion of (B) is added to the powder of (A) and mixed to be carried without heating and drying. After mixing the powder of (A) and (B) in advance, a small amount of water is added to carry it without heating and drying, (B).
Can be produced by a simple operation such as adding (A) to the powder of (A), performing a mixing treatment, and then treating with a particulate inorganic substance.

Because of the above effects, the antibacterial water-absorbing agent composition of the present invention is a disposable diaper for adults and children, a pad for incontinence, a sanitary napkin, a panty liner, a breast milk pad, a puerperium mat, and a medical underpad. Etc. are particularly useful for various absorbent articles. Further, it is useful as a gelling agent and excrement disposal agent for various body fluids that generate offensive odors due to putrefaction of pet urine, waste blood, etc., and sheet-like or tape-like absorbent articles such as pet sheets and drip absorbents can be used. It is also useful in manufacturing. In addition, it is also used for applications that use a gel that absorbs water in a water-absorbent resin (for example, cold insulation materials, artificial snow, water beds, etc.), and applications that cause a bad odor due to decay such as sludge solidification agents and dew condensation prevention wall materials. It is useful.
