Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of components inside a fixing device due to heat from a fixing means by giving a guide member an enclosing shape which encloses air flowing from the fixing means. SOLUTION: Near the fixing rotary body 5a, the guide member 14 is fixed to a main body frame. As a matter of course, if it does not interfere with the attachment/detachment of the fixing device, the positional precision of the guide member 14 can be enhance by fixing the guide member 14 to a fixing frame body 5c. The guide member 14 is in the form of a bag in the longitudinal direction of the fixing rotary body 5a so as to restrain air flow, and guide ribs 14a extending toward a nip between the fixing rotary body 5a and a drive roller 5b is provided. Therefore, because air flow is reduced, paper is prevented from floating up in front of the fixing nip, and the temperature rise of a process cartridge and optical system can also be restrained. In addition, even in a case where paper which has been curled up (in the direction of the fixing rotary body 5a) is carried, the paper can be surely guided to the fixing nip with the aid of the guide ribs 14a.

However, in the above-described conventional example, when the curled paper comes upward (on the side of the fixing roller 50a) as shown in FIG. 7, the paper is successfully guided to the nip between the fixing roller 50a and the pressure roller 50b. Instead, it could cause a jam. Further, when the air around the fixing device is drawn in the direction of arrow A in FIG. 7 by the fan in the image forming apparatus, the paper is lifted upward, which makes it more difficult to enter the nip, and in some cases, The paper may be rubbed by the image forming means before fixing, thereby deteriorating the image quality. In addition, heat around the fixing is transferred to the image forming means (photoreceptor, optical system, etc.) along with the air flow shown in the direction of arrow A, so that the image forming means rises in temperature and the image quality is deteriorated, or failure occurs. There was a problem that caused.

As shown in FIG. 6, the image forming apparatus C irradiates an optical image based on the image information from an optical system 1 which irradiates a laser beam according to the image information, and a photosensitive drum which is an image carrier. An image of a developing material (hereinafter referred to as "toner") is formed on. Then, in synchronism with the formation of the toner image, the recording medium 2 is conveyed from the cassette 3a by the conveying means 3 including the pickup roller 3b, the pair of conveying rollers 3c and 3d, and the process cartridge D is formed into a cartridge. In, a toner image formed on the photosensitive drum is transferred to a recording medium 2 by applying a voltage to a transfer roller 4 as a transfer unit, and the recording medium 2 is fixed to a fixing rotating body 5a having a heater and the rotating body. The recording medium 2 is conveyed to the fixing means 5 composed of a driving roller 5b which presses and conveys the recording medium 2 to the recording medium 2, and fixes the transferred toner image on the recording medium 2. The recording medium 2 is reversed by the discharge roller pairs 3e and 3f to be conveyed and discharged to the discharge unit 6.

On the other hand, in the process cartridge D forming the image forming portion, the photosensitive drum 7 having a photosensitive layer is rotated, and the surface thereof is uniformly charged by applying a voltage to the charging roller 8 as a charging means. The optical image from the optical system 1 is exposed to the photosensitive drum 7 through an exposure section to form a latent image, and the latent image is developed by the developing means 9.
The developing means 9 feeds the toner in the toner reservoir 9a by a toner feeding member (not shown), rotates the developing roller 9b having a fixed magnet built therein, and develops the developing blade 9c.
A toner layer to which a triboelectric charge is applied is formed on the surface of the developing roller 9b, and the toner is transferred to the photosensitive drum 7 in accordance with the latent image to form a toner image and visualize it. Then, after a voltage having a polarity opposite to that of the toner image is applied to the transfer roller 4 to transfer the toner image to the recording medium 2, the cleaning blade 10a scrapes off the toner remaining on the photosensitive drum 7 and the waste toner reservoir 10b. The cleaning means 10 that collects the residual toner on the photosensitive drum 7 is configured to be removed.

Further, in order to prevent the optical system 1, the process cartridge D, or the controller unit (not shown) from rising in temperature and failing due to heat generated from the fixing unit 5 or a power source (not shown), the fan 13 is removed from the exterior part. Heat is released to the outside through the louver. Here, the fan 13 is arranged on the back side of the drawing (in the direction orthogonal to the moving direction of the recording material, on the end side of the guide member described later).

Next, the fixing device of this embodiment will be described with reference to FIG. In this embodiment, the guide member 14 is fixed to the main body frame (not shown) in the vicinity of the fixing rotary member 5a. Of course, if there is no hindrance to the attachment / detachment of the fixing device, the positional accuracy of the fixing member can be improved by fixing the guide member 14 to the fixing frame body 5c. 2 is a perspective view of the guide member 14, which is indicated by an arrow A in FIG.
The fixing rotary member 5a is formed in a bag shape in the longitudinal direction so as to suppress the air flow shown in (1), and a plurality of guide ribs 14a are provided to the nip between the fixing rotary member 5a and the driving roller 5b. Therefore, the air flow shown by the arrow A in FIG. 7 can be reduced to prevent the paper from floating before the fixing nip, and the temperature rise of the process cartridge D and the optical system 1 can be suppressed. Further, even if the curled paper is conveyed upward (on the side of the fixing rotator 5a), the guide rib 14a can reliably guide the paper to the fixing nip. This is very effective especially when conveying the leading edge curled paper, such as when performing double-sided printing. Further, since the water vapor in the fixing device is not lost and is suppressed by the guide member 14, curl of the paper after fixing is reduced.

(Second Embodiment) FIG. 3 is a view similar to FIG. 1 showing the second embodiment. In the present embodiment, it is located near the drive roller 5b and the periphery of the drive roller 5b. A shielding member 5f for reducing the flow of the air is integrally formed from the frame body 5d. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 3, the flow of air (arrow B in the figure) trying to pass between the drive roller 5b and the frame 5d is reduced, and the flow of air from the bottom to the top of the fixing guide member 5e is reduced. (Arrow E in the figure). Therefore, the paper is further prevented from being lifted before the fixing nip, and the paper can be more reliably guided to the fixing nip. Further, since the heat loss in the direction of arrow E in the figure is suppressed, the temperature rise inside the machine can be further suppressed. Further, the loss of water vapor in the fixing device is further suppressed, so that the effect on curling is further improved.

(Third Embodiment) FIG. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 2 showing the third embodiment. In the present embodiment, the fan 13 is arranged on the front side of the guide member 14 in the paper conveyance direction, and the rib 14b of the guide member on the side closer to the fan 13 is the guide rib 14a on the side farther from the fan.

Here, since an air flow (arrow F in the drawing) toward the fan exists in the guide member 14, it is slightly moved between the guide member 14 and the fixing rotary member 5a toward the process cartridge D side. However, the air flow coming out is more on the side closer to the fan, which is disadvantageous for lifting the paper. Therefore, according to the present embodiment, since the rib on the side that is disadvantageous to the lifting of the paper has a strong compulsory force on the paper, more stable paper conveyance is guaranteed. The rib shape is not limited to that of the present embodiment, and can be freely set according to the degree and balance of the air flow.

(Fourth Embodiment) FIG. 5 is a view similar to FIG. 3 showing the fourth embodiment. In this embodiment, a bent portion is provided at the tip of the shielding member 5f. . Therefore, the portion closest to the drive roller 5b is not the edge,
Since it is a bent portion, the drive roller 5b is not damaged when it is assembled.
