Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a method and metal mold in which a connector can be manufactured at low cost. CONSTITUTION: In the state where a fixed metal mold 11 and a movable metal mold 12 are closed, a housing 1 is molded into a form having a retainer insert hole 6 by the interposition of the molding part 18 of a slide mold 17, and a retainer 5 is also molded below it. When only a rear metal mold 14 is opened, a core pin 32 is retreated, and the slide die 17 is also retreated along a vertical advancing and retreating passage 25 by the cam effect of an angular pin 36 to pull the molding part 18 out of the retainer insert hole 6. The slide die 17 is relatively pulled out in front of the advancing and retreating passage 25 together with the fixed metal mold 11 by mold opening to open the advancing and retreating passage 25. An auxiliary slide mold 27 is successively advanced, and the retainer 5 held thereby is inserted into the retainer insert hole 6, and temporarily assembled in a temporary locking position. A finished product is ejected in front of the movable metal mold 12 by an ejector pin 24.

That is, in the state where the retainer 5 is held at the temporary locking position shown in FIG. 6, each locking portion 9 of the retainer 5 retracts the terminal fitting 2 upward so that the terminal fitting 2 can be inserted and removed. When the terminal fitting 2 is inserted to the regular position with, the terminal fitting 2 is primarily locked by the lance 4. Subsequently, when the retainer 5 is pushed into the main locking position as shown in FIG. 7, each locking portion 9 of the retainer 5 is fitted into the jaw portion 8 of the terminal fitting 2 and is secondary locked. Therefore, the terminal fitting 2 is doubly locked. Then, such a connector is temporarily assembled in a state where the retainer 5 is held at the temporary locking position, and then transported to the terminal insertion site.

As described above, in the prior art, the housing 1 and the retainer 5 are formed and assembled separately from each other, and the temporary assembly of the connector is performed through the steps of forming, carrying, and assembling. Is completed. In addition, when the assembly is performed manually by the worker, another inspection process is required. In this case, a large number of steps leading to completion leads to an increase in product cost. Also,
Since it is necessary to manage the mold for each of the housing 1 and the retainer 5, the management cost is further added.

As a means for achieving the above object, the invention of claim 1 is characterized in that a cavity into which a terminal fitting can be inserted is formed inside the connector housing, and a side surface of the connector housing is formed. A method of manufacturing a connector having a retainer that can be mounted from the front side and that is locked in a retaining state by engaging with a terminal fitting when the pair is mounted in a pair of metal members that can be relatively contacted and separated along one direction. The mold is closed with a slide mold assembled between the molds so that one of the molds can move forward and backward in a direction intersecting the contact and separation directions of both molds, and the retainer is inserted through the slide mold. A housing provided with an insertion hole and a retainer located at the rear of the slide die in the advancing / retracting direction are molded, the slide die is retracted and pulled out from the retainer insertion hole, and then the mold is opened. Properly it is characterized at where the structure assembled retracts the slide die on the side of its forward and backward path, from the open passageway by inserting the retainer into the retainer insertion hole in a predetermined state by the drive mechanism.

The operation and effect of the present invention are as follows. With the pair of molds closed, the housing is molded into a shape having a retainer insertion hole on one side surface by interposing a slide mold, and the retainer is also molded behind the slide mold. Next, the slide die retracts and is pulled out from the retainer insertion hole. Subsequently, the slide mold is retracted to the side of the advancing / retreating passage by opening the mold or by the drive mechanism. After that, the retainer is inserted into the retainer insertion hole through the opened passage, and the retainer and the housing are integrally assembled in a predetermined state.
That is, according to the present invention, the housing and the retainer can both be molded and assembled in the mold, so that an inexpensive connector integrated with the retainer can be obtained by shortening the process.

When the resin solidifies after a predetermined time has passed, as shown in FIG. 2, only the rear mold 14 of the movable mold 12 is retracted by a predetermined distance. As the rear mold 14 retreats, the core pin 32 retracts from the advancing / retracting passage 25, and the tip of the angular pin 36 retracts and presses the inclined lower surface of the insertion hole 19 of the slide mold 17, thereby performing a cam action. Thus, the slide die 17 is driven downward along the advancing / retreating passage 25. At that time, since there is a gap between the angular pin 36 and the lower surface of the insertion hole 19, the core pin 32 starts to retract first, and the slide die 17 starts to descend due to the engagement with the angular pin 36. Amo,
Since the inclination angle of the receiving surface 33 of the core pin 32 is larger than the inclination angle of the angular pin 36 and the retreat amount is large, the slide die 17 follows the core pin 32 without interfering with it. Entrance and exit passage 25
Down. Then, as shown in the figure, when the angular pin 36 is completely removed from the insertion hole 19, the rear mold 1
4, the slide die 17 reaches the retracted position, and the molding portion 18 is pulled out downward from the retainer insertion hole 6 of the housing 1.

Next, as shown in FIG. 3, the entire movable mold 12 is retracted to open the space between the fixed mold 11 and the movable mold 12, and the slide mold 17 is moved together with the fixed mold 11 in the advancing and retracting passage 25. It is relatively extracted forward, whereby the advancing / retreating passage 25 is opened. At this time, the housing 1 is held by the front mold 13 of the movable mold 12, and the retainer 5 is held by the auxiliary slide mold 27.

Then, as shown in FIG.
And the auxiliary slide die 27 is advanced to the advanced position along the forward / backward passage 25, and the retainer 5 held therein is inserted from the lower surface side of the retainer insertion hole 6 in the drawing, whereby the retainer 5 is temporarily locked. Assembled in position.

When this is completed, as shown in FIG. 5, the auxiliary slide die 27 is retracted to the retracted position, the protrusion pin 24 is protruded, and the retainer 5 is temporarily locked to the housing 1. It is ejected in front of the mold 12.

As described above, according to the present embodiment, the forming process of the housing 1 and the retainer 5 and the temporary assembling process thereof can be performed at the same time, so that the conventional conveying and assembling process becomes unnecessary and the process can be shortened. This can shorten the lead time for product completion and reduce the manufacturing cost.
In addition, different types of molded products such as the housing 1 and the retainer 5 can be molded in one mold, which is advantageous from the viewpoint of mold management.
