2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, as a throw-away tip formed in the shape of a polygonal plate, for example, there is a throw-away tip of a triangular plate shape having a nose with a sharp cutting edge as shown in FIG. Such throw-away tip 1
Each side 3 of the upper surface (and / or lower surface) 2 serves as a main cutting edge, and a nose 4 is formed between the two sides 3 and 3. In this case, the curve forming the nose 4 is, as shown in FIG.
An inscribed circle A having a radius R between the two sides 3 and 3 is constituted by a single arc starting from a contact point with each side 3.
When this throw-away tip 1 is attached to a lathe or the like and finish cutting of the machined surface of the work material W is performed, the feed direction of the tip 1 is indicated by an arrow P in FIG. The arc region 4a on the upper and lower sides serves as the main cutting edge, and the arc region 4a on the outer peripheral side (on the left side in the drawing) serves as the sub cutting edge, and cutting is performed.

By the way, in this case,
When the nose R of the throw-away tip 1 is small, the cross section of the chip is short and the chip disposability is not bad, but the finished surface roughness of the machined surface is relatively small because the contact area with the machined surface of the work material W is relatively small. Has the drawback of becoming worse. On the other hand, if the nose R is large, the contact area with the work material W is expanded and the finished surface roughness is improved, but in the finish cutting with a small depth of cut, the arcuate area 4a forming the cutting edge of the nose 4 has the side 3 And an inscribed circle A are located so as to draw an arc in a direction away from a tangent line (extension line of side 3) m. Therefore, the cross section of the chips generated in the cutting region 4a becomes close to an arc shape,
Since the thickness of the chips becomes thin, the chips are less likely to curl, and the chip handling property is poor.

Since the convex curved cutting edge of the nose and the other cutting edge are non-handed tips which are formed line-symmetrically, they are used for cutting in the front-rear, left-right direction and in either direction. Good surface finish and chip disposability can be obtained. Since the convex curved cutting edge of the nose is a self-shaping tip used as a main cutting edge that is longer than the other cutting edge,
Used for cutting in a specific direction. If the convex curved cutting edge is an arc having a diameter necessary to obtain the required finished surface roughness, the desired finished surface roughness can be obtained and the chip disposability is good. If a small circular arc cutting edge is provided at the connecting portion between the two convex curved cutting edges, the cutting edge strength of the nose is high.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION A first embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to FIG. 1, but the same members or parts as those in the above-mentioned prior art will be designated by the same reference numerals and the description thereof will be omitted. FIG. 1 shows a first embodiment of the present invention and is an explanatory view of a nose showing a relationship between a throw-away tip and a machined surface of a work material.
In FIG. 1, the nose 7 of the throw-away tip 6 is
It is composed of a pair of arcuate cutting edges 7a, 7a each having the same diameter, and the included angle (blade angle) of the two sides 3, 3 connected to the nose 7
Are connected on the bisector L. The connecting regions of the arcuate cutting edges 7a, 7a are connected by a small arcuate cutting edge 7b having a smaller diameter than the arcuate cutting edge 7a. Moreover,
Each of these arcuate cutting edges 7a, 7b, 7a forms a smooth curve as a whole.

Here, further describing the arcuate cutting edge 7a, the inscribed circle of the two sides 3 and 3 has a smaller diameter than the inscribed circle A in the prior art (for example, if the diameter is r,
r = R / 2) Draw an inscribed circle B, and extend in the tangent line (extension line of side 3) m of the side 3 and the inscribed circle B starting from the contact point n between each side 3 and the inscribed circle B, Curved in an arc shape with radius R,
Two arcuate cutting edges 7a are formed by connecting to the small arc cutting edges 7b on the bisector L, respectively. Moreover, the arcuate cutting edge 7a is appropriately offset from the bisector L at the center point of the arc so that it is located at an appropriate position between the arc of the inscribed circle B and the tangent line m. You can set the position. Further, it is preferable that the small arc 7b has a diameter smaller than the diameter of the inscribed circle B. For example, R is 0.8 mm and r is 0.4
mm, the diameter of the small arc 7b in this case is 0.2 mm
It is a degree. This nose 7 is formed line-symmetrically with respect to the bisector L. Therefore, the throw-away tip 6 is a self-supporting tip that can be cut in any of front, rear, left and right directions. The angle between the two sides 3 and 3 forming the nose 7 is usually 90 ° or less, preferably 80 ° or less. As will be described later, an obtuse angle having an appropriate size may be used.

In the throw-away tip 6 having the nose 7 having the above-mentioned structure, when the workpiece W is subjected to finish cutting, it is assumed that the tip 6 is fed in the P direction in FIG. The arcuate cutting edge 7a is a main cutting edge, and the arcuate cutting edge 7a on the outer peripheral side is a sub cutting edge. In this case, since these arcuate cutting edges 7a have the diameter R, the finished surface roughness is equivalent to that of the above-described prior art chip 1 and is favorable. Moreover, since the arcuate cutting edge 7a for the machined surface of the work material W forms an arc closer to the tangent line (extension line of side 3) m than the arcuate cutting edge 4a of the prior art shown by the inscribed circle A. The cross section of the chips produced by the cutting edge 7a has a shape that is closer to a straight line. Therefore, since the thickness of the chips does not become so thin, it becomes easy to curl neatly into a spiral shape and the processability of the chips becomes good.

Next, a modification of the above embodiment will be described with reference to FIG. In this example, the nose 7 is a pair of arcuate cutting blades 7.
The cutting edge 7b has a small circular arc and is not formed. Therefore, the arcuate cutting edges 7a, 7a intersect on the bisector L as a vertex (pin angle) 8. Even with such a configuration, an effect equivalent to that of the above-described embodiment that good surface roughness and chip disposability can be achieved is achieved.

In the above-described embodiments and the like, the pair of line-symmetric arc-shaped cutting blades forming the nose 7 are formed by perfect circular arc-shaped cutting blades 7a, 7a having a constant radius (R). However, it is not necessarily limited to a circular arc of a perfect circle, and is formed between two tangent lines (extension lines of the sides 3 and 3) and its inscribed circle B, and a pair of line-symmetrical convex curves It suffices to configure a circular cutting edge (or a convex curved cutting edge and the other cutting edge), and for example, an elliptic arc or a non-arc convex curve.

5 is shown, and the cutting edge angle thereof is set to 120 °, for example. The nose 15 has a pair of arcuate cutting edges 15a, 15a having the same diameter, which extend so as to draw an arc of a diameter R starting from each contact point n between each side 3 and its inscribed circle B. It is connected as a vertex 16 (pin angle) on the bisector line L. Moreover, the arcuate cutting edge 15a may be appropriately determined so as to be located at an appropriate position between the arc of the inscribed circle B and the tangent line m. Instead of the apex 16, a small circular cutting edge may be connected. This nose 15 is formed line-symmetrically with respect to the bisector L. Therefore, the throw-away tip 14 is a self-supporting tip that can be cut in any of front, rear, left and right directions.

Also in the tip 14 of the third embodiment, instead of the arcuate cutting edge 15a, an appropriate pair of elliptic arcs or non-arcs formed between the inscribed circle B and the tangent line m. Can be a convex curved cutting edge. Further, as shown in the second embodiment, a convex nose shape having a convex curved cutting edge and the other cutting edge may be used. In each of the above embodiments,
A breaker of arbitrary shape may be formed along the cutting edge on the rake face of the throw-away tip. At the time of forming the breaker, either grinding or molding may be used. Further, the present invention is not limited to the throw-away tip, and can be applied to any cutting tool such as a cutting tool.

As described above, in the cutting tool according to the present invention, each side of the two sides forming the cutting edge and each contact point of the inscribed circle inscribed in the two sides are outside the inscribed circle. Since it has a tool nose formed by two convex curve parts extending to the inscribed circle side of the side, the cutting edge of the convex curve part used for cutting the tool nose provides a good finished surface roughness of the work material. In addition, the chips produced by the tool nose have a cross section of a shape close to a straight line, so that the chips tend to curl neatly in a spiral shape and the processability is improved.
