Further, as an ink tank that does not use a porous body, as in the invention of Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 5-8404, a large number of vent holes are made of a material having excellent water repellency inside so that ink does not leak from the air communication holes. There are materials such as those in which an atmosphere communication hole having these structures is provided at each corner of the ink tank so that the atmosphere can communicate with the atmosphere regardless of the posture of the ink tank.

Hard to say. Further, the material must be selected in consideration of the influence of the reaction at the interface between the ink and the ink holding material. On the other hand, in the invention of Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 5-8404, since there is no means for generating a negative pressure in the tank at the time of ejecting ink, if the meniscus of the nozzle is broken once by ejecting the ink, the ink will flow out from the ejection hole. There was a problem to say.

Is generated, and stable ink supply can be performed to the ink discharge port. Further, by providing a valve unit using a hydrophobic film on a part of the ink tank wall, the pressure inside the tank can be effectively adjusted by the effect of communicating with the atmosphere.

In the figure, the ink supply pipe 4 to the inkjet head 3 is extended to the bottom of the ink tank. Part of the upright wall of the ink tank 1 when the ink is in the
As shown in FIG. 2, a valve unit 5 is provided in which both sides of the tube end are covered with a hydrophobic film E6 and the liquid 7 is enclosed therein. The shape of this unit may be any shape, but tubular is most practical. The enclosed liquid is not particularly limited, but a non-volatile one is preferable. This valve is
In the printing posture, as shown in FIG. 2- (a), the hydrophobic films on both sides are provided vertically. This allows valve 5
In the part above the liquid inside, it plays a role of atmospheric communication,
The atmosphere freely flows in and out of the ink tank 1. When the posture of the cartridge changes and the ejection port faces downward, the liquid in the valve 5 blocks the hydrophobic film on one side as shown in FIG. Atmosphere does not pass through. Therefore, even if the meniscus of the ink supply pipe is broken, the ink will not leak from the ink ejection port.
