After forming, the insulating layer 3 is formed and a step of forming a reflective pixel electrode is performed. After that, an alignment film is formed and rubbing is performed (alignment treatment). On the other hand, after forming the transparent counter common electrode 6 on the counter transparent substrate 5, a step of forming the black matrix 7 is performed. Furthermore, this is subjected to orientation treatment,
After the positional relationship between the reflective pixel electrode and the black matrix is adjusted (aligned) by using a bonding device, the above two substrates are fixed by the sealing material 8. Finally, liquid crystal is injected, and electric shock is applied to complete the process.

Further, since the black matrix has the same height as the reflective pixel electrode, it is possible to prevent the end portions of the electrodes from being hooked in the alignment treatment step.

In FIG. 1A, a contact hole is formed after forming PrMnO 3 by sputtering. After that, in FIG. 1B, a resist pattern is formed, and using this as a mask, a recess is formed by reactive ion etching. In FIG. 1 (c), aluminum is then deposited on this substrate by sputtering to have a thickness corresponding to the depressions for the reflective pixel electrode. In FIG. 1 (d), the resist is removed, and aluminum formed on the resist is removed (lift-off) to expose PrMnO 3 and separate the reflective pixel electrode. Here, the reflective pixel electrode and the black matrix are simultaneously formed. In FIG. 1 (e), alignment treatment is performed on this. On the other hand, an opposing transparent substrate having only an opposing common electrode is formed, and these are bonded together, and a series of steps similar to the conventional manufacturing method such as sealing and liquid crystal injection are performed to complete the process.

できる。As described above, according to the present embodiment, the step of patterning the black insulator PrMnO 3 can reduce the step of forming the black matrix on the counter transparent substrate, and the alignment between the TFT array side substrate and the counter transparent substrate is unnecessary. Therefore, the manufacturing process can be simplified and the reflective pixel electrode can be miniaturized. further,
Since the black matrix can be formed directly between the reflective pixel electrodes, it is possible to completely suppress the ingress of light,
Leakage current due to photoconduction of the switching element can be prevented.

のである。As described above, according to the present invention, in the method of manufacturing the reflective liquid crystal display device, the black matrix, which is an intermediate layer between the switching element and the reflective pixel electrode, is patterned by etching, thereby forming the black matrix in the reflective pixel electrode. ,
By the method of forming on the substrate equipped with the switching element, the step of forming the black matrix on the counter transparent substrate can be reduced, the alignment between the TFT side substrate and the counter transparent substrate becomes unnecessary, and the cost can be reduced by simplifying the manufacturing process. The integration degree can be improved by miniaturizing the reflective pixel electrode.
Furthermore, since the black matrix can be formed directly between the reflective pixel electrodes, it is possible to completely prevent the intrusion of light into the interior, and to prevent leakage current due to photoconduction of the switching element. It is possible to realize a method for manufacturing a reflective liquid crystal display device capable of obtaining the above.
