これには次のような欠点があった。（イ）掛け布団と厚手裏地を縫いつけた構造だったため、掛け布団を汚れから守るためのカバーをすると、厚手裏地までくるんでしまい暖かくない。（ロ）掛け布団カバーをしないと、掛け布団がすぐに汚れたり、厚手裏地が汚れても簡単に洗えない。（ハ）布団を掛けて寝たとき、最初はきちんとしていて暖かいが、少し体を動かすと掛け布団が厚いので、すぐに襟元、足元、側方に隙間が出来、冷たい風が入ってくる。（ニ）身体に直接かかる厚手裏地の裾は、単に足の上に乗っただけなので、熱が外に逃げ易く足がなかなか暖まらなかった。（ホ）掛け布団と毛布が別々の場合は、身体を動かすと掛け布団がずれ落ちてしまったり、毛布だけずれて寒い思いをする事があった。 This had the following drawbacks.
