(Prior Art) A conventional chipping-resistant coating composition has a ratio of polyol to isophthalic acid and adipic acid of 5: 5.
A coating resin composition is used which comprises a polyester resin composed of (5) and a melamine resin composed of butylated melamine and methylated melamine (5: 5). This coating resin composition,
After the electrodeposition coating is completed and the intermediate coating is carried out, the portion requiring chipping (for example, side sill etc.) is chipped-resistant coated, then masked, and the top coating is applied to complete the vehicle coating. That is, an example of the coating process is as follows.

As mentioned above, when painting the side sill part, after the electrodeposition coating and intermediate coating have been completed, apply the chipping resistant coating,
A black top coat is applied on it. Depending on the coating line, the intermediate coating and chipping-resistant coating may be interchanged.

(Problems to be solved by the invention) However, in such conventional coating of the side sill portion, the chipping-resistant coating is located in the lower layer of the top coating, and weather resistance is not particularly required. Since the process is complicated, and there is no weather resistance, there are problems that it cannot be used as a top coat and that the color gamut is small.

(Means for Solving the Problem) The present invention has been made by paying attention to such a conventional problem, and the ratio of the polyol and the acid components of isophthalic acid and adipic acid is 6 to 9: 4 to. Polyester resin consisting of 1 and butylated melamine and methylated melamine, melamine resin consisting of 5: 5, isophthalic acid in the polyester resin is 60 to 90% by weight, and an ultraviolet absorber as an additive is 0.2 The present invention relates to a chipping resistant coating composition containing 3 to 3% by weight.

(Working) Conventional chipping resistant coatings have drawbacks such as poor weather resistance and a small color gamut, although they have chipping resistance, so they cannot be used as top coatings for automobile bodies. Therefore, in order to impart weather resistance, the chipping-resistant coating composition of the present invention has a high content of isophthalic acid in the polyester resin and an ultraviolet absorber added. That is, the polyester resin used in the chipping-resistant coating composition of the present invention is prepared such that the ratio of the polyol and both acid components of isophthalic acid and adipic acid is 6 to 9: 4-1, and isophthalic acid is contained in the polyester resin. The content is 60 to 90% by weight, and if the above conditions are not satisfied, the intended weather resistance cannot be obtained. Further, the addition amount of the ultraviolet absorber as an additive is 0.2 to 3% by weight, but if it is out of this range, the coating film of the chipping-resistant coating composition deteriorates, which is not preferable.
Furthermore, for use as a top coat, various color pigments can be added to expand the color gamut.

(Test conditions) Black panel temperature 63 ° C with rain 750 hours (continuous) (Effect of the invention) As described above, in the present invention, the ratio of both acid components of the polyol and the polyester resin composed of isophthalic acid and adipic acid and the isophthalic acid content in the resin are specified, and the ultraviolet absorption is determined. By adding the agent,
Improved weather resistance. In addition, various color pigments can be added to expand the color gamut, the gloss and color difference of the coating film can be improved as is clear from Table 3, and the following steps can be performed as shown in Examples 1 to 3. (Masking is applied to the side sill part in order to apply the top coating to the door part when the chipping resistant coating of the side sill part is completed.) Or the next step (The masking is applied to the door part to apply chipping-resistant coating to the side sill part when the overcoating of the door and the side sill part is finished.) It also has the effect that it can be used for painting the lower color coating of two-tone vehicles.
