Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal display device of a large screen having good visibility by using a specific material for a sealing material of liquid crystal display devices. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal display devices 10a to 10d are constituted by combining two sheets of substrates 11, 12 consisting of glass by the sealing material 13 and clamping liquid crystals 14 in the spacings therebetween. This sealing material 13 consists of a transparent material and its refractive index (m) is the same 1.5 as the refractive index (n) of the substrates 11, 12. The liquid crystal display devices 10a to 10d constitute one screen by flatly disposing their display surfaces. The display surfaces are irradiated with the light rays of back lights 15a to 15e from behind the display surfaces. Light shielding plates 16 are provided between the adjacent liquid crystal display devices 10a to 10d. The generation of the scattering of the light by the sealing material 13 is prevented by using such sealing material 13. The display is executed without glowing between the adjacent liquid crystal display devices even when light is made incident from the direction diagonal with the liquid crystal display devices.

When a plurality of liquid crystal displays 3 are arranged,
As shown in FIG. 4, a configuration is adopted in which the pitches a of the display patterns between the liquid crystal displays 3 and adjacent liquid crystal displays 3 are made equal to eliminate a feeling of discomfort caused when a large number of liquid crystal displays 3 are arranged. There is. Note that, in FIG. 2, the shaded portion represents the lighting pattern 6.

As described above, the shading plate 5 is provided.
Only a small width is used as the liquid crystal display 3
On the other hand, it is possible to block light coming in from a vertical direction, but it is not possible to block light coming from an oblique direction. For this reason, the light incident from the oblique direction enters the seal portion of the liquid crystal display device 3 and becomes scattered light, and the space between the adjacent liquid crystal display devices 3 shines, which is very unsightly.

As described above, in the prior art, it is not possible to block the light incident from the oblique direction by the light shield plate 5, and this light enters the seal portion and is scattered, which makes the display uncomfortable. It was the cause of it. The present invention has been made in view of such conventional circumstances. [Constitution of Invention]

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device in which the display surfaces of a plurality of liquid crystal displays formed by combining two substrates with a sealant are arranged in a plane to form one screen. The sealant of the liquid crystal display is transparent, and its refractive index m satisfies the relationship of 0.9 n ≦ m ≦ 1.1 n with respect to the refractive index n of the substrate of the liquid crystal display.

According to the present invention, when light is incident on the liquid crystal display from an oblique direction rather than a vertical direction, the light is not scattered because the sealant is transparent. Further, since the refractive index of the sealant is almost the same as the refractive index of the substrate that constitutes the liquid crystal display, light propagates without refraction between the sealant and the substrate. As a result, even when light is incident on the liquid crystal display from an oblique direction, display can be performed without light emission between adjacent liquid crystal displays.

FIG. 1 is a schematic view showing an embodiment of the present invention. In FIG. 1, the liquid crystal displays 10a to 10d include two substrates 11 and 12 made of glass, for example, as a sealant 1.
3, and the liquid crystal 14 is held in this gap. Here, the sealant 13 is made of a transparent material, and its refractive index m is 1.5, which is almost the same as the refractive index n of the substrates 11 and 12. Then, the display surfaces of the liquid crystal displays 10a to 10d are arranged in a plane to form one screen. In addition, the liquid crystal display 1
Lights of backlights 15a to 15e are emitted from the back of 0a to 10d, and further adjacent liquid crystal displays 10a to 10d.
A light shielding plate 16 is provided between d.

In this embodiment, the backlight 15a
The light emitted from the light is blocked by the light blocking plate 16 between the liquid crystal displays 10a and 10b, but the backlight 15b
The light emitted from the light is not blocked by the light blocking plate 16. However, in this embodiment, since the sealant 13 is transparent and the refractive index m thereof satisfies the relationship of 0.9 n ≦ m ≦ 1.1 n with respect to the refractive index n of the substrates 11 and 12, FIG.
As shown in (a), light is not scattered by the sealant 13 of the liquid crystal displays 10a, 10b, and the liquid crystal displays 10a, 1b
It will not shine between 0b. On the other hand, when the sealant 13 made of a normal material is used, as shown in FIG. 2B, light is scattered by the sealant 13 of the liquid crystal displays 10a and 10b, or the liquid crystal display 10a, It sometimes flashed between 10b.
