Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the man-hours for mounting and to easily hold the front end of a display part on the same plane by reflecting the light from a light emitting element by the slope of a light transmissive member or mirror finished surface member to make this light incident on a display part, thereby triggering the display part to emit light. CONSTITUTION:The peripheral wall 21a of the light transmissive member 20 on the side opposite from the slope 22 is brought into proximity to the light emitting element 10 and the display part 23 is inserted into the through-hole 2 of a front panel 1. The upper peripheral wall 21c thereof is pressed to the front panel 1 and is fixed thereto. The light emitting element 10 emits light when the light emitting element 10 is energized at this time. The light L thereof advances rectilinearly in the light transmissive member 20, is reflected 90 deg. by falling on the slope 22 and advances again rectilinearly until the light arrives at the display part 23. The display part 23 emits light in such a manner and displays the energization. Then, the chip-shaped light emitting element 10 is packaged on a printed circuit board 6 and the light transmissive member 20 having the slope 22 and the display part 23 is mounted in proximity to the light emitting element 10 and, therefore, the mechanism of the display device is simplified and the man-hours for assembly thereof are drastically decreased.

As described above in detail, according to the present invention, a chip-shaped light emitting element is mounted on a printed circuit board, and a translucent member having an inclined surface and a display portion in the vicinity of the light emitting element or the inclined surface and the display portion. Since a case containing a light-transmitting member having a light emitting element is mounted, or a mirror surface member is provided on the optical path of the light emitting element and the display unit is provided on the panel, the configuration of the display device is extremely simplified, and therefore the number of assembly steps is increased. Can be significantly reduced.

Since the display portion is integrally molded with the translucent member or is fixed to the panel, the projection length from the panel can be made uniform. Therefore, it is possible to obtain a display device which has a good appearance and is excellent in design. Further, by housing a plurality of translucent members or mirror-finished members in the case, these can be mounted on the printed circuit board with one touch, so that the number of assembling steps can be further reduced.

Further, the light outlet can be formed at a desired position by appropriately setting the angle of the inclined surface, so that the range of use of the display device can be greatly expanded. Further, since the structure is simplified and the lead wire is not connected between the light emitting element and the display portion, there is no possibility of causing disconnection or connection failure, and a highly reliable display device can be obtained.
