2. Description of the Related Art As a press roll of this kind, a roll made of natural granite (so-called stone roll) has been widely used, but such a stone roll is expensive due to depletion of high-quality natural granite. However, the manufacturing process is troublesome and sufficient strength cannot be obtained. Therefore, in recent years, as a substitute thereof, a plastic roll having a plastic layer formed on the surface of a steel roll, or shown in FIG. Thus, development of a thermal spraying roll in which the thermal spraying coating 2 is formed on the surface of the steel roll 1 is being studied.

However, the peeling performance of the wet paper is insufficient with the plastic roll, and
Since the surface hardness is not sufficient, there is a problem that a doctor blade (a blade for removing paper dust adhering to the roll) is apt to cause troubles such as abrasion and bite, and is not always effective.

On the other hand, the pulp liquid contains rosin or a sulfuric acid band as an ink bleeding preventive agent (size agent) at the time of printing,
Further, various fillers (white clay, talc, gypsum, barium sulfate, calcium carbonate, etc.) for improving paper quality (opacity, surface smoothness, flexibility, gloss, compactness, uniformity, stretch prevention property, etc.) Magnesium carbonate, etc.) has been added,
Some of these particles are so small that they can easily penetrate into the pores of the thermal spray coating 2. Since the diameter of the pores is small as described above, once the particles enter the pores, they cannot be removed anymore, and the particles gradually accumulate in the pores. Continue
Eventually, the deposit and the wet paper web come into direct contact with each other, and as a result, the peelability of the wet paper web deteriorates, causing problems such as paper breakage. Further, although the pulp liquid invades the pores, if the pulp liquid is frozen, the coating may be broken due to the volume expansion thereof or may be peeled from the base material.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS An embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 shows the structure of the thermal spray coating 20 in the press roll of this embodiment. This spray coating 20
Is a mixed coating in which at least the surface layer portion thereof is mixed with ceramic particles 21 and plastic particles 22, and is formed by the pores in a conventional general thermal spray coating consisting of the ceramic particles 21 alone and those communicating with each other. The pinholes are closed by the plastic particles 22, and therefore there are no such holes or pinholes. This spray coating 20
The thickness is preferably about 2 to 5 mm. Examples of the ceramic particles 21 include oxides such as alumina, carbides such as WC, nitrides such as TiN, and Ti.
Borides such as B2 can be used, and cermets such as WC-Co can also be used. Further, as the above-mentioned plastic particles 22, fluororesin (polytetrafluoroethylene,
Polyethylene trifluoride, polyvinylidene fluoride, polyvinyl fluoride, etc.), thermoplastic resins such as polyethylene and silicone, and thermosetting resins such as epoxy resins can be used as appropriate. It is preferable to use.

To form the thermal spray coating 20 having the above structure on the surface of the steel roll 1 as the base material, a thermal spray gun 30 as shown in FIG. 2 is used, and a plasma jet 31 blown out from the thermal spray gun 30. It is advisable to blow ceramic powder and plastic powder into the. By doing so, the powders are instantly melted to form high-temperature droplets, and the mixed flow of the droplets collides with the surface of the steel roll 1 as the base material at a high speed, and is cooled and solidified there to become the above-mentioned. Spray coating 20 is formed.

As described above, the mixed coating film 2 having a structure in which the ceramic particles 21 and the plastic particles 22 are mixed.
In the press roll having 0 formed on the surface of the steel roll 1, the wear resistance to the doctor blade can be sufficiently enhanced by the ceramic particles 21 having extremely high hardness as compared with the conventional stone roll. In addition, it is possible to reliably prevent the doctor blade from biting, and it is possible to make it stronger and cheaper than a stone roll.

Further, the above-mentioned thermal spray coating 20 does not have the holes and the pinholes communicating with them in the conventional general thermal spray coating consisting of the ceramic particles 21 alone. Does not enter, there is no possibility that the sprayed coating 20 will be destroyed by the freezing of the pulp liquid that has entered the holes or pinholes as in the conventional case, and the sizing agent and the filler will not enter the holes. Also, the peelability of the wet paper does not decrease due to the penetration into the pinholes and the accumulation of pinholes.

Further, by adjusting the particle diameters of the ceramic particles 21 and the plastic particles 22 and the mixing ratio thereof, for example, the ratio of the exposed area of the ceramic particles 21 to the exposed area of the plastic particles 22 on the surface of the thermal spray coating 20 can be adjusted. The surface characteristics of the press roll can be optimized according to the type and quality of the paper to be made, and if the surface layer of the thermal spray coating 20 is worn, it can be adjusted. By only re-polishing, it is possible to restore the press roll having the same surface structure as the original.

Especially, when a fluorine resin is adopted as the plastic, the fluorine resin is the most stable of the various plastics, and it is excellent in acid resistance and alkali resistance and absorbs water at all. Without
It is not affected by various chemicals and solvents, has high heat resistance, and has the property that it repels water and oily liquids and is difficult to wet (that is, the contact angle with liquids is larger than other plastics). Since the wet paper web releasability can be sufficiently improved as compared with the case of using other plastics, it is most suitable as a press roll in a paper machine.

As described in detail above, the press roll of the present invention has a sprayed coating on the surface of the base material, and at least the surface layer portion of the sprayed coating is made of plastic and ceramics or cermet. Since it is a mixed spray coating, it is of course possible to ensure sufficient wear resistance with ceramic particles, and it can be made stronger and cheaper than stone rolls, and the spray coating is made of ceramics alone. Since there are no holes or pinholes in the conventional general sprayed coating that communicate with each other, damage to the sprayed coating due to the pulp liquid entering these holes or pinholes and freezing, and sizing agents and fillers There is no reduction in the peelability of the wet paper due to the entrapment and accumulation of ceramic particles and the plastic particles. The surface properties of the press roll can be set to the optimum one by adjusting the particle size of the child and the mixing ratio thereof, and furthermore, when the surface layer part of the thermal spray coating is worn, re-polishing can be done to achieve the original and completely. It has an excellent effect that a press roll having a similar surface structure can be restored.

In particular, if the surface of the thermal spray coating is formed such that the ceramic portion or the cermet portion is recessed rather than the ceramic portion or the cermet portion, the recess serves as an air trap to further improve the wet paper peeling property. In addition, the use of a fluororesin as the above plastic has the effect that the wet paper peeling property can be further improved as compared with the case of using another plastic, and therefore, in the paper machine. Most suitable as a press roll.
