CONSTITUTION:Two porous separators 1 are inserted into a non-conductive gasket 2 at the center overlapping each other, carbon electrodes 4 are provided both above and below the separators 2 and sealed up with conductive end plates 3. The porous separators 1 are composed of two conventional separators overlapping each other, so that the separators 1 are doubled in mechanical strength and equal or so to a single conventional one in electrical properties, consequently quality failures in a separator such as thinness and fissures caused by stress such as heat and pressure applied at molding can be eliminated without deteriorating the separator in electrical properties, and an electrical double layer capacitor of this design can be enhanced in yield and reliability.
