Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition excellent in drying resistance by mixing colored emulsion polymer particles with water, a water-soluble organic solvent, a silicone antifoaming agent and an ethylene oxide/propylene oxide copolymer, etc. CONSTITUTION:This ink composition essentially consists of colored emulsion polymer particles, water, a water-soluble organic solvent, a silicone antiforming agent and an ethylene oxide/proplylene oxide polymer and/or a propylene oxide polymer and/or a glycol ether thereof. The drying resistance of the composition at a penpoint can be improved presumably because the formation of a composite film from the agglomeration of the silicone film and the emulsion polymer particles is prevented owing to the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance and the steric hindrance effect when the ethylene oxide/propylene oxide copolymer and/or the propylene oxide polymer and/or the glycol ether thereof are used.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a water-based ink mainly contains a colorant and water. On the other hand, to improve the robustness of the handwriting in a capillary type writing instrument such as a writing instrument using a pen tip using fibers, felts, and monofilaments, a ball-pen type writing instrument, a fountain pen, a writing instrument using a resin nib, etc. In some cases, various colored emulsion-polymerized particles were used as a colorant. However, colored emulsion-polymerized particles have various foaming properties when used in ink because various surfactants are used as emulsifiers in their production. Therefore, the bubbles generated during ink adjustment will not disappear forever. When bubbles occur in the ink, the ink conduction to the pen tip of the writing instrument is interrupted, and the writing line is broken. Therefore, it is known to use a silicon-based defoaming agent as an effective defoaming agent.

When the water-based ink composition prepared by combining the colored emulsion-polymerized particles and the silicone-based defoaming agent is used in a writing instrument, it is stored or the cap is removed from the writing instrument body. When it is removed and exposed to the air for a long time, there is a problem that the ink flow passage is clogged at the pen tip, and the handwriting becomes faint or writing becomes impossible.

The present invention will be described in detail below. The colored emulsion-polymerized particles are not particularly limited to those used as a colorant, and one example thereof is one obtained by emulsion-polymerizing various ethylenically unsaturated monomers and then dyed with a dye or pigment. Examples include dyes obtained by mixing dyes and pigments simultaneously with the reaction. As a specific example, NKW-2101,

It is not clear why the water-based ink composition according to the present invention is excellent in drying resistance, but it is presumed as follows. In the combination of the colored emulsion polymer and the silicone-based defoaming agent in the present invention, when the water is evaporated at the pen tip, the silicone defoaming agent becomes an oil film of silicon at the gas-liquid interface and at the same time the dispersion of the emulsion polymer is It breaks into aggregates. The composite film of silicone oil film and agglomerates is highly hydrophobic and does not easily break. Therefore, in a writing instrument of a type in which ink is supplied to the pen tip by capillary force, the ink flow passage becomes conspicuous at the pen tip. However, a copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide and / or
Alternatively, when a polymer of propylene oxide and / or these glycol ethers is used, the hydrophilic and lipophilic balance and the steric hindrance effect prevent the formation of a composite film due to the aggregation of the silicone oil film and the emulsion polymer. It is thought that the drying resistance with the pen tip will be good.

The ink for ballpoint pens obtained in Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Examples 1 to 4 is filled in a transparent resin cylinder having an inner diameter of 3 mm,
A stainless steel ball-pen tip for water-based ink having a 0.5 mm diameter carbide ball set at the tip was combined to form a ball-point pen for testing, and the ink obtained in Example 4 was used as a commercially available fiber. Pen tip pen (Pentail felt-tip pen S520,
Pentel Co., Ltd.), remove the cap, leave in the air, and write on writing paper A (JIS, P3201) by hand every 24 hours, then every day thereafter. The time to occur was measured. The results are shown in Table 1.
