Abstract

PURPOSE:To completely prevent small pieces of a filter from coming off due to rising of discharging pressure by forming the filter of a collective body of small pieces made of SiC material whose thermal conductivity is high for improvement of regenerating efficiency of the filter in a trap filter device for particulates which is installed between exhaust gas passages of a diesel engine. CONSTITUTION:A filter 2 is constituted of an aggregate of prism-shaped small filters 3 made of an SiC material as a material (small pieces). A metallic holding member 8 which restrains the respective small filters 3 from moving in the flow direction of exhaust gas at least on the rear end face side of the filter 2 in a easing 6 is formed into a partition shape, and a pass hole of exhaust gas is formed in the holding member 8. A porous cushion material 8 made of metallic fiber or ceramic fiber is provided between the holding member 10 and the filter 2.
