Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable quick judgment of quality by measuring the density of a surface layer part of a molded product using an electromagnetic induction test. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic induction test is used to measure the density of a surface layer part of a molded product of a powder compression molded product produced by a compression molding of a composite soft magnetic material comprising a metal powder and a binder. As the density of the molded product rises, an output voltage of an electromagnetic induction tester goes up. Regarding a sample with a low density in the condition of a surface to be measured of the molded product, the flow of an induction current generated by electromagnetic induction is blocked because of much void at the surface layer part to lower an output voltage. Regarding the sample of a high density. the void is so limited that an output voltage increases because of a reduction in factors blocking the induction current. This enables the measurement of the density of the surface layer part of the powder compression molded product depending on the changes in the induction current flowing through the surface layer part of the molded product. Thus, the molded product departing from a set range can be removed as rejection by setting the range of the density necessary for the characteristic of the molded product.

As a first method, first, the external dimensions of the powder compression molded product are measured using a micrometer or the like,
The volume of the powder compression molded product is calculated from the measurement result. Next, the mass of the powder compression molded product is measured using an electronic balance or the like. From each of the results thus obtained, the density of the powder compression molded body was obtained by dividing the mass by the volume.

However, in any of the conventional methods, the average density of the surface layer portion having a high density and the center portion having a low density of the powder compression molded product is measured, and only the surface layer portion is measured. It was not possible to measure the density of. As described above, since the accuracy of the density measurement is low, it is necessary to further confirm the powder filling state of the surface layer portion by the microscope after the measurement in order to perform the quality determination.

The present invention utilizes the skin effect, which is a feature of the electromagnetic induction test, in which the induced current is concentrated on the surface layer portion of the test body close to the test coil and decreases toward the inside of the test body. It is possible to measure the surface layer density, and from the measurement results, it is possible to quickly determine defective products such as samples that are molded in a double-pressed state where the pressure during molding is incomplete or samples with insufficient pressure. To judge.

From FIG. 1, the output voltage of the electromagnetic induction tester (vertical axis) increases as the density (horizontal axis) of the powder compression molding increases.
It can be seen that is also rising. This is because the sample having a low density measurement surface of the molded body had many pores in the surface layer, which hindered the flow of the induced current generated by electromagnetic induction, resulting in a low output voltage. Further, it is considered that the high-density sample has a high output voltage because it has few vacancies and few factors hindering the induced current.

By utilizing this, the density of the surface layer portion of the powder compression molding can be measured by the change of the induced current flowing in the surface layer portion of the molding, so that the density range required for the characteristics of the molding can be obtained. If the setting is made, a molded product out of the set range can be removed as a defective product, and at the same time, the filling state of the powder in the surface layer portion can be quantitatively evaluated.
