Abstract

PURPOSE:To furnish a current detector which reduces the number of processes for assembling a device and the number of processes for mounting this device on a circuit board. CONSTITUTION:In a state wherein a plate-shaped metal strip 2 pierces through a hollow part, inclusive of a magnetic gap 6, of a virtually U-shaped magnetic substance core 1 having the magnetic gap 6, resin is applied to the magnetic substance core 1 and the plate-shaped metal strip 2 and thereby a resin block 3 to be molded monolithically is formed. Moreover, a board 5 whereon a magnetically sensitive element 4 is mounted is fixed at a prescribed position of the resin block 3, whereby a current detector is formed.

[Function] Since the ferromagnetic core and the metal strip (bus bar) are molded in advance by resin to form a resin block,
As the bonding process, only the bonding process between the circuit board and the resin block is performed, and the conventional ferromagnetic core bonding process is reduced.
Also, the metal band (bus bar) mounting process is deleted. In mounting the current detector on the external substrate, the metal strip (bus bar) and the circuit board terminal can be mounted on the external substrate at the same time to perform a soldering process, and the mounting process is significantly shortened compared to the conventional case.

As shown in FIG. 1, the resin block 3 is integrally formed by holding a ferromagnetic core 1 having a magnetic gap 6 and a metal strip (bus bar) 2 in a predetermined positional relationship. The metal band 2 has a U-shape, and is resin-molded while maintaining the positional relationship such that the central portion thereof penetrates the hollow portion of the ferromagnetic core 1. The ends 11 and 12 of the metal strip 2 are exposed to the outside of the resin block 3 and serve as terminals for mounting on the circuit board 5 (see FIG. 2).

When a current to be measured flows through the metal strip (bus bar) 2, a magnetic field proportional to the current is generated in the magnetic gap 6 of the ferromagnetic core 1. A voltage is generated in the magnetic sensitive element 4 by the magnetic field, and this voltage is amplified and signal-processed in a circuit section (not shown) and output to an output terminal (not shown).

According to the above structure, the current detector is constructed only by the step of adhering and fixing the circuit board 5 to the flat portion 23 of the resin block 3, so that the conventional ferromagnetic core 100 and the resin storage case 103 are combined. The bonding process and the mounting process of the metal strip (bus bar) 102 are reduced, and the manufacturing process cost is significantly reduced (see FIG. 3).

When the current detector is mounted on the external board, the terminals 11, 12 of the metal strip (bus bar) 2 and the terminals 31, 32, 33, 34 of the circuit board 5 are simultaneously mounted on the predetermined holes of the external board. Since the soldering process can be performed (not shown), when the terminals 201, 202, 203, 204 provided on the circuit board 101 and the metal strip (bus bar) 102 are separately mounted as in the conventional case (see FIG. 3), the time required for the mounting process is significantly shortened.
