2. Description of the Related Art As heat-bondable fibers, polypropylene or polyester is used as a core component, and high density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, linear low density polyethylene, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, low melting point polyester, etc. are used as sheath components. It is known that Such a conventional sheath-core type heat-adhesive fiber is usually formed into a web by a card process or a sheet form by a papermaking process, and then heated to a temperature equal to or higher than the melting point of the sheath component to fuse the contact points of the fibers. Use non-woven fabric. As a method of heating and fusing, a hot air bonding method such as a suction band dryer and a suction drum dryer, and a hot roll bonding method such as a Yankee dryer and a calendar roll are widely used depending on the use of the non-woven fabric. In recent years, with the increase in demand for non-woven fabrics, there is an increasing tendency to adopt the hot roll bonding method, which is relatively inexpensive and has high productivity, not only for wet non-woven fabrics but also for dry non-woven fabrics.

However, the non-woven fabric obtained by the heat roll bonding method using the conventional thermo-adhesive fiber as a material has a defect that the tensile strength is not sufficient or the heat-sealing property is poor. Especially when using polyethylene (sheath) / polypropylene (core) composite fiber, which is one of the heat-adhesive composite fibers that has been widely used in recent years because of its characteristics such as low cost, light weight and soft texture. , It has good heat sealability with other non-woven fabrics and films whose surface is made of the same material as the sheath component of this fiber, but heats non-woven fabrics and films composed of polypropylene and other dissimilar polymers. There is a problem that the sealing property is extremely low. Therefore, there has been a strong demand for the appearance of polypropylene-based thermoadhesive conjugate fibers which are suitable for the heat roll adhesive method and which are useful as a nonwoven fabric material having high tensile strength and excellent heat sealability.

The ternary copolymer used in the sheath component of the conjugate fiber in the present invention is a copolymer obtained by polymerizing propylene, ethylene and butene-1 by the known Ziegler-Natta catalyst so as to have the above-mentioned respective component amounts. It is essentially a random copolymer. If the content of the comonomer (ethylene and butene-1) in each of the copolymers is less than 2%, the resulting fiber will have insufficient thermal adhesiveness. As the content of the comonomer increases, the melting point of the copolymer decreases and the thermal adhesiveness also increases, but the surface friction coefficient of the obtained fiber becomes high, which causes a problem that the processability in the card process etc. deteriorates. The content higher than the upper limit of 10% is not suitable for industrial production. The polypropylene used as the core component of the composite fiber in the present invention is crystalline polypropylene generally used for fibers.

The conjugate fiber of the present invention can be produced by using the above-mentioned terpolymer and crystalline polypropylene using a known sheath-core type composite yarn device and drawing device. In order to smoothly carry out this production, the terpolymer has a melt flow rate (A
According to STM D-1238 (L), it may be hereinafter abbreviated as MFR) 3 to 50, and crystalline polypropylene preferably has MFR 3 to 50. In the case of a manufacturing method such as a spunbond method or a melt blow method, in which stretching is not performed, the MFR may be more than this range. The reason why the composite weight ratio of the sheath component and the core component (sheath component / core component) is limited to 20/80 to 60/40 is that when the sheath component is less than 20%, the thermal adhesiveness of the obtained fiber is deteriorated. Non-woven fabrics made of sapphire cannot obtain sufficient tensile strength and heat sealability, and if the sheath component exceeds 60%, the thermal adhesion is sufficient but the heat shrinkage rate of the fiber is high, and the dimensional stability is high. Is reduced. still,
The relationship between the sheath component and the core component may be either a concentric type or an eccentric type, but the concentric type is preferable because the shrinkage of the web during heat treatment is small.

In the present invention, the composite undrawn yarn obtained by the composite spinning in the sheath-core type is drawn at a draw ratio of less than 3.0, preferably 2.5 or less, more preferably 2.0 or less. To do. When the draw ratio is 3.0 or more, the molecular orientation of the composite fiber becomes high, the softening point and the melting point rise, and the thermal adhesiveness decreases, so that a nonwoven fabric having sufficient tensile strength can be obtained in the hot roll adhesive method. Can not. In addition, since the heat shrinkage rate of the fiber is remarkably increased, problems such as deterioration in dimensional stability of the nonwoven fabric and occurrence of unevenness in the weight are caused. On the other hand, the thermoadhesive conjugate fiber stretched at a low draw ratio of less than 3.0 has a low single yarn strength, but is excellent in heat adhesiveness because the orientation is suppressed to a low level, and has a heat shrinkage ratio. Has a low value.

In general, the tensile strength of the nonwoven fabric obtained by the hot roll bonding method largely depends on the single yarn strength of the heat-bondable fiber when the fiber bonding point is sufficiently strong.
On the other hand, when the bonding point is fragile, the breaking of the non-woven fabric is caused by the breaking of the bonding point, so that the tensile strength of the non-woven fabric is hardly affected by the single yarn strength, and its value is very small. Since the composite fiber of the present invention suppresses the molecular orientation and improves the thermal adhesiveness, the single yarn strength is reduced by the reduction of the draw ratio, but the binding point is strong, so that the tensile strength of the nonwoven fabric can be sufficiently satisfied. It can be secured.
It should be noted that the stretching ratio of 1.0 means that the stretching is not substantially performed, but the above-described spunbond method, melt blow method, or the case where only crimping is performed in the normal stretching step is applicable to this. . Since the sheath component of the heat-adhesive conjugate fiber of the present invention is a terpolymer mainly containing propylene and containing an appropriate amount of comonomer, the affinity between the sheath component and the core component is extremely large. Since the peeling at the boundary surface of the sheath core does not easily occur, not only a high-strength, high-heat-sealing non-woven fabric can be easily obtained by the heat roll method, but also thermal adhesion to other materials such as rayon and pulp. Since these also have staples, for example, they can be cut into staples having an appropriate fiber length, mixed to form a web, and then heat-bonded to obtain a nonwoven fabric having sufficient tensile strength.

EFFECTS OF THE INVENTION The conjugate fiber of the present invention has a good feel (feel), high strength, and heat sealability when it is point-bonded with a heat roll after forming a web having a desired areal weight using a card machine. An excellent non-woven fabric is obtained, and the non-woven fabric can be used as a surface material for sanitary materials such as sanitary napkins and paper diapers, or for medical use such as surgical gowns. Further, since the nonwoven fabric obtained by the wet method using the conjugate fiber of the present invention has high strength and high heat sealability, it is widely used not only in the general paper field but also as tea bags and other packaging materials.
