[Technical Field] The present invention relates to an image communication device that receives an image signal and forms an image, such as a facsimile device. [Prior Art] In conventionally known image communication devices such as facsimile devices, transmitted image signals are sequentially decoded and recorded as they are. Therefore, control is performed to record a recorded image on a recording paper such as a roll paper in the same direction as the reading and scanning direction of the document in the sending device. However, in such a conventional example, a recording mode as shown in FIG. 1 was obtained depending on the size relationship between the original size to be transmitted and the recording paper on the receiving side. In other words, the receiving device has A3 as an example.
When a roll paper with a width of the same size is loaded as the recording paper, when an A5 size original or an A4 size original is played, unnecessary margins will appear on the left and right (or one side) of the recording paper as shown in the diagram. A shortcoming was found. Such margins on the recording paper not only make it impossible to use the recording paper effectively, but also result in uneven sizes when the recording paper is filed, which is extremely inconvenient. [Objective] In view of the above-mentioned points, it is an object of the present invention to provide an image communication device that creates as little blank space as possible on a recording sheet when recording a received image. The present invention provides a receiving means for receiving an image, an image size detecting means for detecting the vertical size of the image received by the receiving means, a recording means for recording the image on a recording sheet, and a detecting means for detecting the vertical size of the image by the image size detecting means. determining means for determining whether the image rotated by 90 degrees will fit on a recording sheet in the recording means, based on the vertical size of the rotated image; and a step for outputting the image received by the receiving means to the recording means. rotation processing means for rotating the vertical and horizontal directions of the image by 90 degrees; and when the determining means determines that the image rotated by 90 degrees fits on the recording sheet, the rotation processing means rotates the received image by 90 degrees; Control means for causing the recording means to record, and when the determining means determines that the image rotated by 90 degrees does not fit on the recording sheet, causing the recording means to record the received image without rotating the received image by 90 degrees. The above object is achieved by providing an image communication device characterized by having the following. [Example] Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail based on Examples. In the facsimile device to which the present invention is applied, the second
As shown in the figure, there is a recording mode in which a sent A5-size or A4-size document is rotated 90 degrees and recorded on a roll paper with a width of A3-size. On the other hand, if the transmitted document size is B4 size or A3 size, the image information is recorded on the roll paper in the direction in which it was transmitted. In this embodiment, a facsimile device conforming to CCITT recommendation T4 will be described. FIG. 3 is a block diagram showing an embodiment of a facsimile apparatus to which the present invention is applied. In this figure, 2a indicates a telephone line. In addition, 2 is a network control unit (NCU), which connects to the terminal of the telephone line to use the telephone network for data communication, etc., and controls the connection of the telephone exchange network, and controls the data communication path. Maintain the loop by switching to Therefore, the image signal sent from the other party's facsimile device is output onto the signal line 2b via the NCU 2. 4 is a demodulator that performs demodulation based on the well-known CCITT recommendation V27ter (differential phase modulation) or V29 (quadrature modulation). This demodulator 4 is connected to the signal line 2b
The above signal is input, demodulated, and the demodulated data is output onto the signal line 4a. 6 is a decoder, which inputs the demodulated data output on the signal line 4a and outputs the decoded [MH (Modified Huffman) decoding or MR (Modified Read) decoding] data on the signal line 6a. do. 8 is a circuit for inputting and recording the decoded data output on the signal line 6a. This storage device 8 can be configured using static RAM, dynamic RAM, disk memory, or the like. This stored data is stored on signal line 1
When a recording start pulse is sent to the signal line 14b in accordance with the signal level on the signal line 4b, the signal is read out onto the signal line 8a. 10 is a recording circuit which inputs data on a signal line 8a in response to a recording start pulse sent out on a signal line 14a, and causes a printer (not shown) to form an image. For example, as shown in FIG. 4A, if it is assumed that the letter "A" is stored in the storage device 8, when the signal level on the signal line 14b is "0", it is indicated by the arrow A. The stored data is read out in the main scanning direction, and the recording shown in FIG. 4B is performed. On the other hand, when the signal level on the signal line 14b is "1", the stored data is read out with the direction shown by arrow A as the main scanning direction, and the recording shown in FIG. 4C is performed. Returning to FIG. 3 again, this will be explained. 12 is a document size determination circuit, and a signal line 6a
By inputting the decoded data output above, counting the number of bits in the main scanning direction and the number of lines in the sub-scanning direction, and recognizing the standard/fine mode, the document size of the other party's facsimile device can be determined. Determine. When the determination of the document size is completed, the result is output on the signal line 10a and the signal line 10b (described in detail next),
A determination end pulse is generated on the signal line 10c. In this embodiment, the originals sent from the other party's facsimile machine are A4 size, B4 size, A3 size, and long originals. Here, the long document refers to a document whose length in the sub-scanning direction exceeds A3 size. In this case, the image information is recorded as transmitted, regardless of the width of the document size. The determination result by the document size determination circuit 12 is output to the signal line 10a and the signal line 10b as shown below.

As explained above, according to the present invention, when it is determined that a received image rotated by 90 degrees fits on the recording sheet, the received image is rotated by 90 degrees and recorded, and the image rotated by 90 degrees is recorded. If it is determined that the received image does not fit on the recording sheet, the received image is recorded without being rotated 90 degrees, so when recording the received image, the receiving side can orient the image so that it leaves as little blank space as possible on the recording sheet. This option can also be used when the sending side sends an image that would result in unnecessary blank space on the recording sheet if recorded as received. Therefore, it becomes possible to use the recording sheet effectively.
