Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a cathode-ray tube of high safety by forming a second conductive film in conduction to a conductive film formed on the surface of a funnel main body portion, and covering the horizontal deflection coil outer surface of a deflection yoke with an insulating member. CONSTITUTION:A second conductive film 9 is formed in conduction to a conductive film 7 formed on the surface of a funnel main body portion 1c in such a manner as to cover the outer surface of a funnel portion 1 from a cone portion 1b to a neck portion 1a. The horizontal deflection coil 8a of a deflection yoke 8 is covered at its outer surface with an insulating member. The film 9 is grounded via the film 7 and therefore serves as a conductive surface with a potential of 0V and a face having field shielding effects is formed in the opening front region of the yoke 8 whereby alternating electric fields produced at the yoke 8 and passing through the funnel portion 1 are reduced. Since the coil 8a and the film 9 are insulated from each other, no discharge is generated therebetween. A cathode-ray tube having high safety is thus provided.
