[Detailed description of the invention] Industrial application field This invention is an upper thread holder for sewing machines that acts on the upper thread between the thread take-up and the needle to prevent more than the necessary amount of upper thread from being supplied to the needle when the needle is lowered. Background of the invention As is well known, the stitch is formed by the point of the hook catching and pulling the needle thread loop formed when the needle rises from the bottom dead center, causing the hook to collapse. However, if a so-called run-in phenomenon occurs in which more needle thread than the required amount is supplied through the needle hole, and an excessive needle thread loop is formed, the needle thread loop tends to twist or fall, depending on the type of thread. As a result, the tip of the hook sometimes fails to catch the needle thread loop, which is one of the causes of skipped stitches. This skipped stitch phenomenon is particularly likely to occur when forming a left-hand stitch when the feed amount is small in zig-sag stitching.

If an excessively large needle thread loop is formed, it may cause not only skipped stitches but also thread breakage. In other words, if the needle thread loop becomes larger than necessary,
As shown in the figure, the tip b of the inner pot a is connected to the loop c.
When the loop C reaches the end of the race groove of the cauldron d, the loose loop c enters the race groove and gets caught between the inner pot and the cauldron and is cut.
As shown in the figure, the loop c that has passed through the inner hook a does not pass through between the inner hook tail end e and the rear end f of the driver, and when the inner hook a is reversed, the inner hook tail end e and the large hook d It tends to get caught and cut between the race groove and the edge of the race groove.

In order to prevent the thread from flowing into the needle, it is possible to install a thread guide that applies weak spring pressure to the thread on the upper thread path between the thread take-up lever and the needle, but in this case, when the needle is lowered, the thread does not exceed the required amount. Even if it is possible to suppress the flow into the hole, this adds extra resistance when the needle rises, which adversely affects the timing at which the upper thread loop comes out of the hook, and
Thread breakage phenomenon as shown in the figure is likely to occur.

This idea prevents needle thread from flowing into the needle more than necessary without adversely affecting the timing at which the loop comes out of the hook, and prevents skipped stitches and thread breakage by forming a proper needle thread loop. This is what we are trying to prevent.

Summary of the invention Therefore, this invention has flexibility on the needle thread path between the thread take-up thread take-up and the needle, and at least when the needle descends and the thread thread take-up is loosened, A sheet-shaped needle thread holder is provided that leans against the thread and lightly presses the needle thread.

The needle thread holder is made of, for example, leather, synthetic leather, rubber,
It is made of cloth, plastic sheet, etc., and either one end is fixed and the free end rests against a member of the sewing machine, or a pair of thread holders are placed facing each other and butted against each other so that they rest against each other. The needle thread holder can also be used in a general type of sewing machine in which the thread take-up lever moves up and down, or it can be used in a type of sewing machine in which the thread take-up thread reciprocates horizontally. In the latter type of sewing machine, an upper thread holder can be provided on the path along which the thread take-up reciprocates. Therefore, in this case, the term "between the balance and the needle" includes the balance.

Embodiment The embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is a balance device of the type previously proposed by the present applicant in Utility Application No. 174622/1980, etc., that is, a balance 2 is mounted on the upper shaft inside a balance cover 1 having a U-shaped cross section. It reciprocates horizontally in conjunction with the thread take-up lever 1, and during forward movement, it catches the needle thread 4 passing through the guide groove 5 vertically installed in the thread take-up cover 1 and pulls it horizontally in a V-shape.
This shows an example in which a rectangular needle thread holder 7 made of a sheet-like section made of leather is installed in a type of thread take-up device that releases the thread take-up during backward movement. It is attached to part 1a and hangs down, so that its lower part rests on the upper surface of lower wall part 1b. 8 in the figure is a thread tension device.

The present embodiment is constructed as described above, and during forward movement, the thread take-up 2 captures the upper thread 4, passes through the upper thread holder 7 as it is, and pulls the upper thread. As shown in FIG. 1, the needle thread holder 7 that has passed through the thread take-up 2 is in a state of being warped toward the thread take-up side where it has passed through, that is, to the right in the figure. Since it moves in the warped direction of the thread holder 7, it is hardly subjected to any pressing action by the thread holder 7. Therefore, the needle thread 4 slides into contact with the lower part of the needle thread holder with almost no resistance, and the provision of the needle thread holder 7 adversely affects seam formation, such as the timing at which the needle thread loop comes out of the hook. Never.
When the thread take-up 2 reaches the forward movement end and moves back, the needle thread 4 that has been being pulled is released, and the thread take-up cover 1 is thereby released.
The loose loop 4a of the needle thread 4 formed inside is pulled and pulled out as the needle (not shown) descends, but at this time, the needle thread is lightly held down by the needle thread holder that curves to the right. As a result, the amount of needle thread supplied to the needle is suppressed, and more needle thread than necessary is prevented from being supplied when forming a needle thread loop. Note that the upper thread holder 7 may come into contact with the upper thread holder 7 during the backward movement of the thread take-up lever 2, and when it passes through it, it may warp to the opposite side, that is, to the left in the figure. Even if the holding action on the heap thread ceases to occur, no problem will occur because at this point the tip of the hook has already captured the upper thread loop. Furthermore, even if the upper thread holder temporarily warps to the left, it will warp to the right again and return to its original position when the thread take-up moves forward.

Effects of the invention According to the invention, thread loosening is performed using a thread take-up,
When the needle thread is fed as the needle descends, the needle thread holder leans against the needle thread and lightly presses the needle thread, which suppresses the needle thread supply, resulting in the supply of more needle thread than necessary. A proper upper thread loop is formed, and skipped stitches and thread breakage due to thread flow can be eliminated. Moreover, when pulling up the needle thread loop that has passed through the hook, the needle thread holder does not provide a holding action, so providing this device has a negative effect on the timing at which the needle thread loop comes out from the hook. Nor. In addition, since the thread holder is sheet-shaped, it has a simple structure, is easy to install, requires less space for installation, and has less contact area with the upper thread. Since contact occurs only in a part of the moving path, fluffing of the upper thread can also be reduced.
