Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve cutting characteristics by improving a method for grinding a wheel cutter made of a ceramic. CONSTITUTION:The material of the objective wheel cutter 2 consists essentially of TiN. A cutting edge 6 is formed on the outer periphery of the wheel cutter 2 and a part where two blade surfaces 8 cross is formed into the cutting edge 6. The blade surfaces 8 are ground in the circumferential direction as indicated by an arrow 10. A diamond grindstone is used for grinding. The finish roughness of grinding is 0.02-0.05mum. Rupture similar to that with a conventional cutter can be carried out under a smaller load at a smaller depth of cut as compared with the conventional cutter for grinding in the radial direction by using this cutter. Thereby, the life of the cutter is prolonged.

いる。ところで、超硬合金製カッターは低価格であるが
短寿命であり、一方、ダイヤモンド製カッターは長寿命
であるが高価格であってしかも切断ラインのエッジが欠
けやすい、という特徴がある。理想的なカッターとして
は、長寿命で、切断性に優れ、かつ低価格のものが望ま
しいが、この種の要望を満たすものとして、特開昭56
−78439号公報や特開昭62−158129号公報
に開示されているような、セラミックス製のホイールカ
ッターが開発されている。

た。従来の超硬合金製ホイールカッターはカッターの刃
先を半径方向に沿って(すなわち放射状に)研磨してお
り、セラミックス製のホイールカッターも同様に研磨し
ていた。

イールカッターの外径は2.5mmである。外周縁には
刃先6が形成され、二つの刃面8の交差する部分が刃先
6となっている。刃先角αは130°である。

ルカッターの寿命を延ばすことができる。
