Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the fixing strength between a printed circuit board and a conductive component with the inflow of a solder inside a caulking part and enhance the quantity at a connecting part by protruding through-holes or notches at the caulking part of the conductive component. CONSTITUTION:In a conductive component 4, through-holes 4d are previously provided at the peripherical surface part where a caulking part 4b is formed. When the caulking part 4b is formed by bending the circumference of the top end part into an approximately semicircular shape after the component 4 is inserted into a through-hole 3, the through-holes 4d are located near conductive foils 2 and 2a. When soldered in this condition, a solder 5a flows into the caulking part 4b from the through-holes 4d so that its inner surface 4c and the foil 2a are fixed together along approximately all the periphery. Accordingly, the fixing strength between the conductive foil 2 of the printed circuit board and the component 4 by means of the solder 5a is increased thereby securing the connection therebetween.

Next, the order of mounting the conductive component 4 on the printed wiring board will be described. The printed wiring board in which the insulating substrate 1 and the conductive foil 2 are integrated is provided with a through hole 3. The conductive component 4 of FIG. The portion is bent into a semicircular shape around the entire circumference to form the caulked portion 4b. The conductive component 4 is caulked and mounted on the printed wiring board by the caulking portion 4b and the caulking portion 4a.

In this state, the gap 6 between the crimped portion 4b and the conductive foil 2 is almost absent. After that, the conductive component 4 and the conductive foil 2 are soldered by a method such as an automatic solder bath. At the time of this soldering, there is almost no gap 6 between the conductive component 4 and the conductive foil 2, so that the solder 5 does not flow into the caulked portion 4b from this gap. Therefore, the inner surface 4c of the crimped portion 4b and the conductive foil 2a are not soldered.

Since the conventional conductive component for a printed wiring board is constructed as described above, the inner surface 4c of the caulking portion 4b bent in a semicircular shape and the conductive foil 2a are formed in the conductive component. Since soldering is not performed, the soldering strength is weakened, and there is a problem that electrical connection is likely to occur due to vibration.
