Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten printing time and to attempt to improve print properties by a system wherein the first color is printed by feeding a recording paper in one direction and then, the second color is printed by feeding the recording paper in the reverse direction. CONSTITUTION:After a yellow printing is performed on a recording paper 4, an ink sheet 13 is ordinarily carried and positioning of the head of a mazenta ink layer 22 is performed. Then, while a recording paper 4 and the sheet 13 are reversely carried in the reversely carrying direction shown by the arrow mark C, the mazenta printing is performed on the recording paper 4. Then, the sheet is ordinarily carried and positioning of the head of a cyan ink layer is performed and the cyan printing is performed while the recording paper 4 and the sheet 13 are ordinarily carried in the arrow mark B direction. After printing of three colors are performed like this on the recording paper 4, the recording paper 13 is ordinarily carried by means of a pair of paper discharging rollers 11 and is discharged in a paper discharging case 3. As the mazenta printing is performed while the recording paper 4 is reversely carried twice like this, printing time is surely shortened. In addition, as it becomes unnecessary to perform largely reverse carrying of the printed recording paper 4 for positioning of the head, positional deviation of three colors can be prevented from occurrence and printing properties can be improved.

As shown in FIG. 4, a yellow ink layer 21, a magenta ink layer 22 and a cyan ink layer 23 are formed on a conventional ink sheet 13 at regular intervals, and in the forward direction indicated by arrow B. For each layer 21, 22, 23
A yellow detection marker 24, a magenta detection marker 25, and a cyan detection marker 26 are provided on the upstream side of each. In addition, the marker 24 is the ink sheet 13
The markers 25 and 26 are provided over the entire width of the arrow B.
They are provided on the left side and the right side, respectively, in the direction. In addition, 2 provided in the width direction of the ink sheet 13
By individually detecting the markers 24, 25, 26 by a detection head (not shown), the ink layers 21, 22, 23 facing the thermal head 7 are discriminated.

Next, the conventional three-color printing sequence will be described with reference to the flow chart shown in FIG. In step 101, feeding of the recording paper 4 is started in the forward direction indicated by arrow A in FIG. At the same time, in step 102, the ink sheet 13 is also fed, and the detection head is moved to the yellow detection marker 24.
Is detected, the cue of the yellow ink layer 21 is performed. Next, in step 103, the recording paper 4 and the ink sheet 13 are sequentially fed, and the thermal head 7 presses them onto the platen roller 6 to perform yellow printing. After the printing paper is finished, the thermal head 7 is released from the pressure contact state with the platen roller 6.

Next, at step 104, the recording paper 4 is fed in the reverse feeding direction shown by the arrow C in FIG. 3 so that the yellow print portion faces the thermal head 7. Next step 10
In 5, the ink tape 13 is sequentially fed, and the detection head detects the magenta detection marker 25, whereby the magenta ink layer 22 is cued. Next, the thermal head 7 is pressed against the platen roller 6 again, and magenta printing is performed in step 106.
At 07, the recording paper 4 is run backward, at step 108, the cyan ink layer 23 is cued, and at step 109, cyan printing is performed. In this way, after printing three colors on the recording paper 4, in step 110, the pair of discharge rollers 1
The recording paper 4 is sequentially fed by 1 and is discharged into the paper discharge case 3.

However, according to the conventional printer printing method as described above, the recording paper 4 is reversely fed after the yellow printing is performed, and the yellow printing portion is heated by the thermal head 7.
Then, the magenta ink layer 22 is moved to the beginning, and the recording paper 4 is sequentially fed again for magenta printing. Similarly, in the case of cyan printing, the recording paper 4 was also fed backward. That is, in addition to the time for printing on the recording paper 4, a reverse feeding time for two times is required, and there is a problem that the entire working time becomes long.

Next, the printing order of the three colors according to this embodiment will be described with reference to the flow chart shown in FIG. Step 20
In Nos. 1, 202 and 203, the same operations as in Steps 101, 102 and 103 in the conventional example shown in FIG. 5 are performed, respectively, and yellow printing is performed on the recording paper 4. Next, in step 204, the ink sheet 13 is fed in order, and the magenta ink layer 22 is indexed similarly to step 105 in the conventional example. Then in step 205,
A magenta image is printed on the recording paper 4 while the recording paper 4 and the ink sheet 13 are run backward in the reverse feeding direction indicated by the arrow C.
Next, in step 206, the ink sheet 13 is sequentially fed, and the cyan ink layer is cued in the same manner as in step 108 in the conventional example. Then in step 207,
The recording paper 4 and the ink sheet 13 are run in the direction indicated by arrow B to perform cyan printing. In this way, the recording paper 4
After printing three colors on the upper side, in step 208, the recording paper 13 is sequentially fed by the paper discharge roller pair 11 and is discharged into the paper discharge case 3.

According to this embodiment, the conventional magenta printing is carried out while the recording paper 4 is fed backward twice.
It is possible to reliably reduce the printing time. Further, the recording paper 4 held by the capstan roller 8 and the pinch roller 9 does not have to be moved in a large backward direction for the purpose of cueing, so that the positional deviation of three colors, tilt, skew, etc. can be prevented. The printing performance can also be improved.
