Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the image reader which reads a transmission document easy to break without damaging it and is small-sized and light-weight and easily handles the document by constituting the image reader of an illumination for transmission document, a white diffusing plate, a document means for transmission document, a thin and soft transparent resin member which is closely brought into contact with the transmission document and is carried at the same speed as the transmission document, etc. CONSTITUTION:A protective sheet 8 closely brought into contact with a transmission document 7 is carried at the same speed as the document to read the image. That is, the protective sheet 8 is driven independently of the transmission document 7 but is carried at the same speed as the transmission document 7. A transmission document unit 2 consisting of a lamp 4 for transmission document, document feed rolls 3 and 6, a white diffusing plate 5, and the protective sheet 8 is freely detachably attached to the reader main body. A take-up part 8a and a supply part 8b of the protective sheet 8 are easily replaced because being formed to a one-body cartridge. Thus, the document move type small-sized and light-weight reader is obtained, and the transmission document 7 is protected because it does not directly slide on the surface of a platen glass 9.

Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is an external view of the image reading apparatus of the present invention. In FIG. 1A, the transparent original unit 2 is arranged above the original glass 9 of the reading apparatus main body 1. The transparent original unit 2 can be installed in a predetermined place with respect to the reading apparatus main body 1 by a hinge, a positioning pin, or the like, and can be easily attached to and detached from the reading apparatus main body 1. FIG. 1B shows a transparent original unit 2
Is completely set in the reading device body 1,
The transparent original 7 is inserted through the transparent original inserting section 2a and read. The inside of the reading device body 1 is the same as that of the conventional document reading device, as shown in FIG. Further, FIG. 2 shows a cross-sectional view of the transparent original unit 2 and the partial reading apparatus main body 1. The light emitted from the transparent original lamp 4 is uniformly diffused by the white diffuser plate 5, and the mirror 1
An image is formed on an image sensor 15 (not shown) in the reading device main body 1 through the image pickup device 2. The transparent original 7 is now passed through the gap between the white diffuser plate 5 and the original glass 9
Read. The transparent original 7 is the original feed roller 3,
The sheet is conveyed by 6 and can be read in a plane by synchronizing with the main scanning of the image sensor. Also,
When reading a reflective original, the reflective original lamp 11 is used, and the focus position in this case is the upper surface of the original glass 9. Therefore, even when reading a transparent original, the original glass 9 and the transparent original 7 must be in close contact with each other. However, in general, the surface of a transparent original is easily scratched, and sliding the original glass 9 and the transparent original 7 at the time of feeding the original leads to damage of the original. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 2, the original protective sheet 8 which is a thin soft transparent resin film is superposed on the lower surface of the transparent original, and is inserted from the transparent original inserting section 2a for reading. Since the transparent original 7 and the protective sheet 8 are conveyed at the same speed, the original glass 9 and the protective sheet 8 slide, but the transparent original 7 does not directly contact the original glass 9. Therefore, the transparent original 7 can be prevented from being damaged by sliding. Further, since the transparent original unit 2 conveys the transparent original 7 for reading, it is not necessary to move a large surface light source or a line light source, and the apparatus can be downsized, and
The manuscript can be set easily.

FIG. 3 shows another embodiment of the present invention. The protective sheet 8 is driven independently of the transparent original 7, but the speed is the same as that of the transparent original 7. The take-up part 8a and the supply part 8b of the protective sheet 8 of the present embodiment can be replaced easily by forming them into an integrated cartridge shape.

FIG. 5 shows still another embodiment of the present invention. Instead of the white diffuser plate, a white diffuser sheet 17 having a loop-shaped, thin and soft white uniform diffuser surface is brought into close contact with the upper surface of the transparent original 7, and the original is The feed rollers 3 and 6 convey the document at the same speed. The transparent original 7 is protected on both the upper surface and the lower surface by the original protective sheet 8 and the white diffusion sheet 17 which are conveyed at the same speed, so that the damage can be completely avoided.
