Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the coating cost of automobiles, at least the chassis parts of which are made of aluminum alloys and to improve the coating quality of external parts, such as doors, bonnets, fenders and roofs, which are exposed to the outside of the bodies. CONSTITUTION:The external members are separated from the chassis parts after a pretreatment for coating at the latest. Only the external members are subjected to electrodeposition coating and after the external members are subjected to finish coating, such as intermediate coating and top coating, the external members are assembled to the chassis parts. The electrodeposition coating of chassis part is abolished to save coating cost. The external parts are separated from the chassis parts and are subjected to the electrodeposition coating, by that, the throwing power of the electrodeposition coating is improved and the finish coating of the external parts placed in an optimum posture is enabled. The coating quality is thus improved.

2. Description of the Related Art Recently, in order to reduce the weight of an automobile, it is known that a part or the whole of a vehicle body is made of an aluminum alloy. By the way, even in a car in which a part of the car body such as a bonnet is made of aluminum alloy, its coating is the same as in a conventional car in which the whole car body is made of iron, pre-treatment such as chemical conversion treatment, and electrodeposition coating It is carried out by applying finish coating such as middle coating and top coating to the entire body (see Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 61-104089).

Aluminum alloy has a high rust preventive power, and it is not necessary to perform electrodeposition coating for rust prevention.
If the chassis of the car body is made of aluminum alloy,
When the electrodeposition coating is applied to the entire vehicle body as described above, the expensive electrodeposition coating is wasted on the chassis portion. In view of the above points, an object of the present invention is to provide a coating method capable of reducing costs by eliminating wasteful electrodeposition coating on a chassis made of an aluminum alloy.

[Means for Solving the Problems] In order to achieve the above object,
In the present invention, the vehicle body is separated into the chassis portion and the exterior member exposed on the outer surface of the vehicle body such as the door, the hood, the fender, and the roof at the latest after the coating pretreatment process, and only the exterior member is subjected to the electrodeposition coating, and then the exterior member. After applying a finish coating to the member, the exterior member was attached to the chassis.

By separating the exterior member from the chassis and applying the electrodeposition coating only to the exterior member, it is possible to avoid unnecessary use of the electrodeposition coating on the chassis. Further, since the exterior member is applied by electrodeposition in a state where it is separated from the chassis, the electrodeposition coating film is surely formed even on the part where the throwing power deteriorates when assembled on the chassis, and the electrodeposition tank is also Since it is small, cost can be reduced. Furthermore, the exterior parts can be placed in an optimal posture for painting, for example, in a horizontal posture, and a simple coating machine such as a reciprocator can be used to apply finish coating such as intermediate coating and top coating, achieving high-quality painting at low cost. become able to. Note that the chassis portion and the exterior member may be separated before the coating pretreatment process, and the chassis portion may be subjected to anodizing treatment or boehmite treatment instead of pretreatment such as chemical conversion treatment. Unlike the chemical conversion treatment, drying is not necessary when anodizing treatment is performed, and it is possible to further color it.When performing boehmite treatment, only hot water or steam is used. There is an advantage that is unnecessary.

EXAMPLE An example in which the method of the present invention is applied to the painting of the automobile shown in FIG. 1 will be described. This automobile is composed of a chassis portion 1 and an exterior member including a door 2, a hood 3, a trunk lid 4, front and rear fenders 5, and a roof 6. The chassis portion 1 and the exterior member are all made of an aluminum alloy. It was made. If the exterior member is made of an aluminum alloy as described above, sheet metal processing cannot be performed when the exterior member is damaged, unlike the iron member.
It was bolted to each exterior member so that it can be replaced when damaged.

Before painting, as shown in FIG. 2, before the exterior members 2 to 6 are assembled to the chassis portion 1, degreasing treatment and chemical conversion treatment (zinc phosphate treatment or chromate treatment) are performed on the entire vehicle body. Then, all of the exterior members 2 to 6 are separated from the chassis portion 1, and the exterior members are subjected to electrodeposition coating, followed by intermediate coating and top coating. On the other hand, the chassis 1 is coated with a sealing agent according to a conventional method without applying electrodeposition coating, and P is applied to the lower surface of the chassis.
VC (polyvinyl chloride) is applied, and then the chassis 1 and the doors 2 and the like, which are exterior members, are fitted, and then all the exterior members are assembled to the chassis 1.

FIG. 3 shows another embodiment, in which
The chassis portion 1 and the exterior member are separated from the beginning, and after the chassis portion 1 is degreased, anodizing treatment or boehmite treatment is applied instead of the pretreatment for coating, and then the sealing agent is used in the same manner as in the above embodiment. The application of PVC or PVC and the outfitting were performed. In this case, the exterior member is subjected to degreasing treatment and pretreatment for coating, and then subjected to electrodeposition coating, intermediate coating, top coating, and outfitting in the same manner as in the above embodiment, and finally the chassis portion 1

Although the door opening is particularly noticeable in the chassis 1, the color of the chassis becomes the silver color of the aluminum alloy itself even if it is not painted, so that no discomfort occurs. If you are concerned, it is sufficient to apply coating only to the easily visible parts such as the door opening or to attach the cover member.

As is apparent from the above description, according to the first aspect of the present invention, since the exterior member can be subjected to electrodeposition coating and finish coating in a state where it is separated from the chassis portion, the electrodeposition coating film can be applied. The outer parts can be placed in an optimal position for good finish painting, the coating quality can be improved, and the electrodeposition tank and coating machine can be small and simple, which is wasteful on the chassis. It does not require electro-deposition coating, and can significantly reduce costs. Further, as in the invention of claim 2 or claim 3, by performing anodizing treatment or boehmite treatment on the chassis portion, the durability of the chassis portion can be improved, and drying or drainage treatment can be performed as compared with the case of performing chemical conversion treatment. Can be eliminated and productivity can be improved.
