Abstract

PURPOSE:To take a beautiful panoramic photograph without causing overlapping or omission at a spliced part by providing an arithmetic means and a control means which make relation between the distance of a photographing lens and the moving angle of a camera main body the prescribed relation. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a zoom position detection device 10 which detects the zoom position of a zoom lens 9, a panoramic photographing mode detection means 3, a camera angle detection device 13 which detects the direction of the camera main body with a shaft line as a center, a telephoto and wide detection means 14 and a zoom lens driving means 8 which drives the lens 9. Besides, an arithmetic means 6 which calculates the turning angle of the camera by a camera main body turning means based on the output of the detection means 10, 13 and 3 and the control means 7 which controls the camera main body turning means based on the output of the arithmetic means 6 are provided. Therefore, when the distance of the photographing lens is decided, the moving angle of the camera main body is decided. When the moving angle is decided, the distance of the photographing lens is decided.

Next, the operation of the configuration of FIG. 1 will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG. When the release switch 1 is turned on, the release detecting means 4 detects it in # 101, and then # 102
Release operation. In # 103, the panorama mode switch detecting means 3 determines whether or not the panorama mode switch 2 is ON. If it is OFF, the process returns to # 101, and if it is ON, the zoom position detecting device 10 detects the position of the zoom lens 9 in # 104. And sends it to the calculating means 6. Then # 105
Then, the camera angle detection device 13 detects the camera angle and sends it to the calculation means 6. Next, in # 106, the calculating means 6 calculates the angle at which the camera is moved. In step # 107, the control means 7 drives the motor 12 via the motor drive means 11 to move the camera. In # 108, the camera angle detection device 13 detects the angle of the camera, and in # 109, the calculation means 6 compares the data from the camera angle detection device 13 with the calculation result in # 106. If the movement has not ended, the process returns to # 107 and repeats. If the movement has ended, the power supply is stopped and the process returns to # 101.
