In the electric reciprocating saw of the present invention, since a part of the contact member can be extended, the force pressing the object against the sawtooth blade is reduced even when cutting an object with the maximum allowable diameter, thereby improving cutting work efficiency. Moreover, since a part of the abutting member is contracted in a direction substantially opposite to the cutting direction, protrusion from the reciprocating saw main body is suppressed, making the reciprocating saw compact, and improving storage efficiency.

部材と、 スイッチを介して電源に接続された出力部を有するモー
タ装置と、該モータ装置に連結された動力伝達部及び動
力変換部を有する動力伝達変換装置と、前記動力変換部
に連結されクランプとともに鋸歯ブレードを支持する刃
取付部を設けたプランジャーを有するプランジャー支持
装置と、を内蔵するとともに前記当接部材を回動可能に
支持するレシプロソー本体と、 からなる電動式レシプロソーにおいて、 前記当接部材は、回動可能に支持された第1当接片と、
該第1当接片に略切断を進める方向へ伸縮自在に連結さ
れる第2当接片とからなり、両当接片がレシプロソー本
体に対して同時に回動、固着及び弛緩せしめるようにし
