Abstract

PURPOSE:To distribute the suction gas fed to the upper and the lower crankcases of two cylinders evenly by providing a lower wall to block a lower edge partially furnishing a notch at the center, as well as an upper wall to block an upper edge partially, at the entrance of a suction maniford. CONSTITUTION:In a two-cylinder and two-cycle engine arranging two cylinders 3 up and down, and a crankshaft vertically, the crankcases 5 of the up and down cylinders 3 are connected to a suction maniford 7 through lead valves 6 respectively. In this case, the entrance 8 of the suction maniford 7 is provided biased to the upper side, and connected to a carburetter 9. And, to the entrance 8 of the suction maniford 7, a lower wall 11 is provided projecting upward to block the lower edge, while an upper wall 10 is provided projecting downward to block the upper edge. At the center of the lower wall 11, a notch 12 coincident to the lower edge is provided. As a result, the suction gas flowing in the upper and the lower crankcases can be distributed evenly along the whole rotation area, the operation is stabilized, and the fuel consumption can be reduced.

Outboard motors often use a two-cycle engine for power. In an outboard motor, the crankshaft is placed vertically, and in the case of a two-cylinder engine, the cylinders are arranged one above the other. The upper and lower crank chambers are connected to the intake manifold via reed valves, a carburetor is connected to the intake manifold, and the carburetor atomizes fuel into the intake air to create intake gas, and the upper and lower crank chambers are connected to the intake manifold. When the engine pressure is high, the reed valve opens and intake gas is sucked into the crank chamber. for example,

In a two-cycle engine with two cylinders arranged one above the other and with a vertical crankshaft, the carburetor installation depends on the height, left-right position, and position of the main nozzle tip of the carburetor itself in the upper and lower crank chambers. The distribution of intake air changes significantly. The distribution also changes depending on the position of the passage in the slow system of the vaporizer.

Furthermore, in the case of outboard motors, the interior of the engine compartment covered by the engine cover is narrow, and the location of the carburetor is restricted.
There are also restrictions from the position of the throttle lever and silencer. In this way, an imbalance occurs in the intake gas drawn into the upper and lower crank chambers from the carburetor via the intake manifold, and one disadvantageously becomes richer while the other becomes thinner.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In view of the above, an object of the present invention is to provide an intake system for an outboard motor that can uniformly distribute intake air to upper and lower crank chambers by improving the inlet of an intake manifold.

In order to achieve the above object, the outboard motor intake system of the present invention connects the intake manifold to the crank chamber of a two-cylinder two-cycle engine in which cylinders are arranged one above the other through a reed valve. The carburetor is connected to the intake manifold, and the intake manifold is placed on the upper side.
At the entrance, a part of the upper edge is cold and an upper wall is provided, and a part of the lower edge is cold and a lower wall with a notch in the center is provided.

At low speeds, fuel is supplied from the slow port located above the carburetor's venturi. Normally, the air flows easily to the upper crank chamber, but the earthen wall installed at the entrance of the intake manifold obstructs the flow, reducing the amount of air flowing to the upper crank chamber and evenly distributing the intake air flowing to the upper and lower crank chambers. .

At high speeds, the overall flow velocity of the intake air increases, and the intake air flow becomes linear. Fuel is then supplied from the main nozzle that opens at the center of the venturi. Because of the upper wall that improves distribution at low speeds, the lower crank chamber becomes darker than the upper crank chamber.

Therefore, the lower wall of the intake manifold inlet prevents the lower crank chamber from becoming denser and equalizes the distribution to the upper and lower crank chambers. Also, the notch provided in the center of the lower wall prevents fuel from accumulating on the front side of the lower wall.

The crank chambers 5 of the upper and lower cylinders 3 are connected to an intake manifold 7 via reed valves 6, respectively. An inlet 8 of the intake manifold 7 is provided toward the upper side and is connected to a carburetor 9. An earthen wall 10 is provided at the inlet 8 of the intake manifold 7 so as to protrude downward so as to close the upper edge. Further, a lower wall 11 is provided to protrude upward so as to close the lower edge. A notch 12 is provided in the center of the lower wall 11 to match the lower edge. The carburetor 9 has an upper end of a main nozzle 14 opened at the center of the venturi 13.
A slow system port 15 is provided in the earthen wall of the tank, so that fuel can be sucked out and atomized.

At low speeds, as shown in Fig. 4, fuel is supplied from the slow system port 15 on the upper side of the venturi 13, and the crank chamber 5 near the upper side tends to become rich. Equalize the distribution to 5. At high speeds, as shown in FIG. 5, fuel is supplied from the main nozzle 14 at the center of the venturi 13, and since the rotation is fast, the flow rate is also fast. At this time, if the upper wall is only 10 thick, the upper crank chamber 5 becomes thin, but by providing the lower wall 11, the intake air distribution can be made uniform between the upper and lower crank chambers 5. Furthermore, the venturi 1 of the carburetor 9 is
There is no accumulation of fuel at the exit of 3.

As explained above, since the present invention is configured as described above, the intake air supplied to the upper and lower crank chambers of the two cylinders can be uniformly distributed by the earthen wall and the lower wall provided at the inlet of the intake manifold. This stabilizes high and low speed operation, widens the range of carburetor settings, stabilizes operation even with thin overall settings, and reduces fuel consumption. Additionally, the notch provided in the lower wall prevents fuel from accumulating.
