Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the access speed and to miniaturize a device by providing a jacket, with which a magnetic disk is covered, with a fixed head having the same number heads as cylinders. CONSTITUTION:Plural heads 17 are arranged in a line on a fixed head 14 and are so positioned that they correspond to cylinders 18 on a magnetic disk 2 in 1:1. Required one of plural heads 17 is selected by a head selecting circuit 15 in accordance with the signal from the driving device side. Head selecting operation is adopted instead of head positioning operation.

ッド(19)間隔を狭くすることが可能であり、これに
より磁気ディスク(2〉上のシリンダ(18)幅を小さ
くすることが可能となり、シリンダ(18)数を増やす
ことができるため磁気ディスク(2)の記憶容量を増大
させることができる。

ケットと一体であり、固定ヘッドと磁気ディスクとの相
対位置は不変であり、そのための位置合わせを行う必要
がないという効果もある。
