(Prior art) A conventional ferrule for an optical multi-fiber connector consists of a ferrule body and a cap attached to the ferrule body, and the tape core wire is placed directly inside the ferrule and fixed within the ferrule by tightening the cap. Ta. However, with this prior art ferrule, it is necessary to perform a process in advance to peel off the outer sheath of the tape core wire and expose the optical fiber, so the cut length of the optical fiber tends to be uneven. Mirror finishing work is required to align the fibers. In addition, the ferrule body and the cap were fixed together with the tape core wire using an adhesive, but the process of attaching the ferrule to the tape core wire was inefficient because it took a considerable amount of time for the adhesive to harden. In addition, since a heater is required to cure the adhesive, the equipment cost is high and it is not suitable for on-site work.

With this configuration, the tape core wire is securely held in the gripping jig without any displacement within the gripping jig, and since the ferrule body and the gripping jig are fixed by a mechanical fixture, the tape Since there is no need for adhesive to fix the core wire to the ferrule body, the work time is shortened and the work on site becomes easier. Also, the tape core wire can be peeled off while being held in this gripping jig. Since the optical fiber can be cut, there is no unevenness in the exposed length of the jacket and the exposed length of the optical fiber, and therefore, mirror finishing is not required, improving work efficiency.

(Embodiment) An embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. FIGS. 1 and 2 show an optical multi-core connector 1 formed using a ferrule 10 according to the present invention. The multi-fiber connector 1 has two ferrules 10 each having a tape core wire 2 attached thereto facing each other, and a mechanical fixture 14 such as a leaf spring that tightens the ferrules 10 in the direction in which they abut each other. It is formed in a fixed manner.

As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the ferrule 10 of the present invention includes a ferrule body 12, a gripping jig 16 attached to the ferrule body 12 for gripping and fixing the tape core wire 2, and the gripping jig 16. and a mechanical fixture for fixing the ferrule to the ferrule body 12. The tape core wire 2 is gripped by the gripping jig 16 so that the jacket 2a and the optical fiber 2b are sequentially exposed from the tip of the gripping jig 16.On the other hand, this gripping jig 16 is As shown in FIG. 5, two jig halves 18 and 20 that grip the tape core wire 2 in a sandwiching manner, and these two jig halves 1
It includes a U-shaped fastener 22 for tightening and fixing the parts 8 and 20 to each other. In the illustrated embodiment, these jig halves 18, 20 have corrugated surfaces 18a, 20a on opposite sides, respectively, and the ribbon core 2 is vertically curved between these corrugated surfaces 18a, 20a. It is guided and pinched in a wave-like direction. In this way, the frictional resistance of the tape core wire 2 is increased compared to when the tape core wire 2 is sandwiched between these jig halves 18 and 20 in a two-dimensional manner, and the pulling force of the tape core wire 2 is reduced without increasing the length of the gripping jig. This is preferable because the tape core wire 2 can be reliably gripped by the gripping jig 16 because of the large diameter. In addition, in FIG. 5, the symbol 24 indicates the jig half 1.
The other jig half 20 is provided with an engagement plate 25 having a semicircular recess 25a corresponding to the semicircular protrusion 24a. (See Figure 6).
Therefore, as shown in FIG. 6, when the jig halves 18 and 20 are engaged so that the protrusions 24a and the recesses 25a of these engagement plates 24 and 25 are mutually engaged and positioned, the jig halves 18 and 20 are vertically aligned. without swaying in direction,
Can be combined. In addition, these jig halves 18, 2
0 has engagement grooves 18b and 20 into which the fastener 22 engages.
b are provided respectively.

As shown in FIG. 6, in this gripping jig 16, the jig halves 18 and 20 are positioned relative to each other, so that the tape core wire 2 is securely gripped within the gripping jig 16 without shifting. Therefore, the gripping jig 16 can be used to peel off the jacket 2a along the line x while gripping the tape core wire 2, or to cut the optical fiber 2b along the line y. Outer cover 2 because it is possible
There is no possibility that the exposed length of the optical fiber a and the exposed length of the optical fiber 2b will be inconsistent. Therefore, tape core wire 2
It can be seen that mirror finishing is not required.

As shown in FIG. 3, the ferrule main body 12 has an insertion hole 26 into which the outer cover 2a exposed from the gripping jig 16 is inserted, and a through hole 28 through which the optical fiber 2b exposed beyond the insertion hole 26 is inserted. Therefore, as described above, the tape core wire 2 is gripped by the gripping jig 16, and the outer sheath 2 is
After stripping the optical fibers a and trimming the optical fibers 2b, the fibers are inserted into the through holes 28 passing through each optical fiber 2b, and the outer sheath 2a exposed from the gripping jig 16 is inserted into the insertion hole 26. In this way, the gripping jig 16 is attached to the ferrule body 12, and the tape core wire 2 is
Butt the two ferrules 10 with attached
Two ferrules 10 with leaf springs as fixtures 14
When the two ferrules 10 are tightened together, the gripping jig 16 is fixed to the ferrule main body 12, and at the same time, the two ferrules 10 are connected to each other. As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a magnetic suction tool (not shown) is embedded in the ferrule main body 12, and the U-shaped retaining metal fitting 30, which is attracted to the magnetic suction tool, is inserted between the gripping jig 16. It is preferable that the gripping jig 16 is fixed more securely if the gripping jig 16 is attached to the gripper.

(Effects of the invention) According to the invention, as described above, the tape core wire is securely gripped within the gripping jig without any displacement, and the ferrule body and the gripping jig that grips the tape core wire are Since the ferrule is fixed with a mechanical fixture, there is no need for adhesive to fix the tape core to the ferrule body, which reduces work time and facilitates work on site. Since the wire can be peeled off and the optical fiber can be cut while being held by this gripping jig, there will be no unevenness in the exposed length of the outer sheath and the exposed length of the optical fiber. Since mirror finishing is not required, there is a practical benefit of improving work efficiency.
