Abstract

PURPOSE:To treat only the solid component of a jellyfish by a method wherein a flocculant is added to the suspension obtained by finely grinding a jellyfish to form conc., flocculated and settled sludge which is, in turn, dehydrated. CONSTITUTION:First, a jellyfish is charged in a mixer 2 and finely ground by an impeller 2a rotating at high speed to form a gel-like suspension consisting of the solid component and moisture of the jellyfish and this suspension is guided to a sedimentation tank 3 through a charging port 3a. An inorg. flocculant is added to the suspension through an adding device 3d and, when the suspension is mixed and stirred in this state by a low speed stirring impeller 3c, sludge based on the solid component is formed after about 1hr to be discharged from the discharge port 3f provided to the lower part of the sedimentation tank 3. The sludge taken out of the discharge port 3f is guided to a dehydrator 4 and dehydrated to form a cake and separated water is allowed to meet with the supernatant water of the sedimentation tank 3 to be discharged. The cake wherein moisture is almost removed is transported as it is and discharged to a disposal area or incinerated in a separately arranged combustion furnace.

It removes garbage such as empty cans and bottles to obtain clean intake water, but at the same time, another major role is to remove jellyfish (water carriers) that occur in large quantities in seawater depending on the season. A large amount of jellyfish were generated, and the recovered jellyfish were disposed of as waste.

However, the jellyfish that are removed and collected in large quantities contain a large amount of water with a small amount of solid content, and if they are disposed of as waste in that state, they will cause environmental pollution by emitting bad odors due to decomposition, and it will be difficult to transport the jellyfish. The economic burden of increasing costs and securing a disposal site is also extremely large, and there has been a strong desire for a simple method and device for dehydrating and solidifying these jellyfish.

In order to solve the above problems, the method for dehydrating and solidifying jellyfish of the present invention involves placing jellyfish in a mixer with an impeller that rotates at high speed, crushing them into small pieces, and then adding a flocculant to the suspended water and stirring. It was decided that the coagulated and precipitated sludge would be dehydrated using a dehydrator, and the dehydrated cake would be incinerated or discarded.

In addition, the jellyfish dehydration and solidification treatment apparatus of the present invention is equipped with a mixer having an impeller that rotates at high speed in a container containing jellyfish, and a device for storing the suspended water generated by the mixer and adding a necessary flocculant. A settling tank (thickener) equipped with a rotating impeller for stirring, a discharge port for discharging coagulated and precipitated sludge from the bottom, and a discharge port for collecting and discharging supernatant liquid that overflows from the upper edge of the outer periphery of the container. , and a dehydrator for separating moisture from the sludge.

In the present invention, jellyfish are placed in a mixer and crushed into fine pieces by an impeller rotating at high speed. When gently mixed and stirred with an impeller, agglomeration and
The solidified sludge is discharged from the bottom of the settling tank, while
The supernatant liquid is discharged after overflowing from the upper end of the outer periphery of the settling tank. Although the discharged sludge is mainly composed of concentrated solids, it still contains a large amount of water, so it is put into a dehydrator and the dehydrated cake is incinerated or discarded. By the above operation, water can be separated from the jellyfish containing a large amount of water, and only the remaining solid matter can be incinerated or disposed of.The separated water can be discharged to the sewer, so the solid content of the jellyfish has been reduced quantitatively. It is economically advantageous because only jellyfish can be treated, and there is less environmental pollution compared to leaving jellyfish as living organisms.

The jellyfish is first put into the mixer 2, where it is finely divided by the impeller 2a that rotates at high speed, and the gel-like suspension water consisting of the solid content of the jellyfish and water is sent to the settling tank 3 through the inlet 3a. For example, a polymer flocculant or an inorganic flocculant such as sulfate is added to an appropriate dissolved concentration in the range of 0.1 to 1.0% through the addition device 3d, and stirred at low speed. After about 1 hour of mixing and agitation with the impeller 3C, the sludge consisting mainly of solids is transferred to the sedimentation tank 3.
It is discharged from the discharge port 3f provided at the bottom of the.

On the other hand, the supernatant liquid is discharged from the discharge port 3h provided at one location on the circumference of the overflow ring 3g provided at the upper end of the outer circumference of the sedimentation tank 3 due to the seawater containing New Feed jellyfish that is sequentially supplied, and this liquid is discharged from the sewer or It is returned to the power plant water intake.

The sludge taken out from the discharge port 3f is then sent to the dehydrator 4.
The separated water is then dehydrated to form a cake, and the separated water is combined with the supernatant liquid in the settling tank 3 and discarded as described above. The dehydrated cake has most of the water removed and is either transported directly to a landfill or incinerated in a separate incinerator. As the dehydrator 4, a centrifugal dehydrator (screw decanter), a pressure dehydrator (roll press), or a vacuum dehydrator can be used.

In addition, if the dehydrated cake is not incinerated but is to be disposed of as is in a waste site, it is desirable to use a flocculant that has a deodorizing effect. In addition to the flocculant, a concentration/filtration aid may also be added.

According to the jellyfish dehydration and solidification treatment method and jellyfish dehydration and solidification treatment apparatus of the present invention, a flocculant is added to the turbid water after crushing the jellyfish into small pieces, and the sludge that has been concentrated, flocculated, and precipitated is dehydrated. Since the jellyfish is then disposed of or incinerated, the solid content of the jellyfish can be separated from the water and only the solid content reduced in volume and weight can be disposed of.

Therefore, it is possible to prevent environmental pollution such as the generation of rotting odors due to the conventional neglect of live jellyfish, and also to reduce the cost of transporting waste, as well as reducing the number of disposal sites.
