Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the cooling efficiency of a drum by fitting a cooling disc having a flat face on the wheel side on the outer circumference of the drum of a drum brake, and nearly equalling the outer diameter of the cooling disc to the outer diameter of ornamental holes of a wheel. CONSTITUTION:The wheel 10 of an automobile together with a drum 9 is tighteningly connected to a hub 8 supported with an axle shaft 6 through a bearing 7 with hub bolts 12 and wheel nuts 13. A cooling disc 11 is fitted on the outer circumference of the drum 9, and the wheel 10 side of the cooling disc 11 is formed into a flat face 111. れら冷却フィンなどが見えないようにすると、当該飾り
孔からの空気の流通が少なくなって折角冷却フィンなど
を設けてもドラムの冷却が不十分になりフェード現象が
発生するという不具合がある。またフェード現象を防止
するにはドラムの直径を大きくしてドラムの内周面とシ
コーとの間の摩擦力を小さくすることが考えられるが、
このようにドラムの直径を太き(すると自動車のばね下
重量がかさんで車両性能の低下をもたらし、かつブレー
キ装置が大型化するのでコストが高くなるという問題が
ある。

られている。この1令却円盤11のホイール10側は平
坦面111になっており、その外径D2はホイールlO
に設けた飾り孔14の外径旧に略等しくなっている。ド
ラム9と冷却円盤11の取り付けは、熱伝導性をよくす
るために両者は密着していることが望ましい。また冷却
