Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten time and increase accuracy for machining a tip mounting surface. CONSTITUTION:A cutting edge 22 is formed at one end of a shaft-shaped tool main body 21 in axial direction. Around the periphery of the cutting edge 22, a cutting edge 25 in the same form as a tip mounting surface 9 of V-section is formed. While the tool main body 21 is rotated around the axis O, the edge 22 is lowered to a supporter 8 to bite the cutting edge 25 into the upper surface 8a of the supporter by a specified amount. Then a relative movement between the tool main body 21 and the supporter 8 is given in the direction along the upper surface 8a of the supporter to form the tip mounting surface 9. Thus, since two inclined surfaces of the tip mounting surfaces 9 are formed at the same time by the cutting edge 25, a machining efficiency better than that when the inclined surfaces are formed separately can be obtained, and deterioration of machining accuracy followed by setting up can be prevented.

[Prior Art] As a processing tool used for cutting steel materials, an indexable tip (hereinafter abbreviated as a tip) made of a hard material such as cemented carbide is removably attached to the tip mounting seat of the tool body. So-called indexable cutting tools are widely used, and a parting tool 1 shown in FIGS. 6 to 8, for example, is known as one type of such indexable cutting tools. This parting tool 1 is attached to the tip of a holder 2 with a long prismatic tip 3 formed at both ends of the cutting blade 4, one of which protrudes forward of the holder 2. It is held down by a clamp piece 5 attached to the holder 2.

The holder 2 has a holder main body 6 having a rectangular cross section, and a supporter 8 attached to the tip of the holder main body 6 with a bolt 7. The portion protruding from the main body 6 is formed into a thin plate shape having approximately the same width as the chip 3, and a chip mounting surface 9 that is in close contact with the lower surface 3a of the chip 3 is formed on the upper surface side. The chip mounting surface 9 is gradually recessed toward the lower surface of the supporter 8 from both ends in the width direction toward the center in correspondence with the substantially V-shaped projection of the lower surface 3a of the chip 3. The reason why the lower surface 3a of the chip 3 and the chip mounting surface 9 are formed unevenly in the width direction is to prevent the chip 3 from swinging in the width direction and improve processing accuracy. Note that this chip mounting surface 9
The angle θ (hereinafter referred to as groove angle θ) is appropriately set depending on the material of the workpiece to be machined, the width of the chip 3, etc., and is set to 120° in the illustrated example.

[0004] As a method of machining the chip mounting seat 9, cutting using an end mill E is exclusively used. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 9, an end mill E is provided with an outer peripheral blade e1 that draws a cylindrical rotation locus around an axis O, and the outer peripheral blade e1 runs along one inclined surface of the tip mounting surface 9. The end mill E is moved to form one inclined surface, and then the end mill E is inclined by an angle corresponding to the groove angle θ to form the opposite inclined surface.

[0005] The machining accuracy of the groove angle θ is extremely strict, and is generally within 1°, and the error direction is also as shown in FIG.
is limited to a direction smaller than the included angle φ. this is,
If the error in the groove angle θ becomes large, the stability of the chip 3 will be impaired. In particular, if the groove angle θ becomes larger than the included angle φ of the lower surface 3a of the chip 3, the center side of the lower surface 3a of the chip 3 will become attached to the chip mounting surface 9.
Since the stability of the chip 3 will be significantly deteriorated due to contact with the central part of the chip 3, make sure that the groove angle θ is smaller than the included angle φ so that both widthwise ends of the chip lower surface 3a and both ends of the chip mounting surface 9 This is an attempt to actively bring the two sides into contact with each other. In addition, in FIG. 10, in order to clarify the tolerance between the groove angle θ and the included angle φ, the difference in these angles is exaggerated, but it can be treated as θ=φ as an actual reference dimension.

By the way, as mentioned above, it is possible to change the inclination of the end mill E to improve the tip mounting surface 9.
In the machining method of cutting in two steps, errors tend to occur when changing the angle of the end mill E. Therefore, in order to form the groove angle θ within the above-mentioned accuracy range, care must be taken when changing the angle of the end mill E. This had the disadvantage that it required careful attention to the processing, making processing time-consuming. Further, since it is necessary to change the setup at least once, it is necessary to create separate programs for the left and right sides of the chip mounting surface 9 when performing NC machining.

Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 11, depending on the configuration of a tool holder for internal machining, for example, a protruding wall 10 may be formed on the side of the tip mounting surface 9, and in such a case, the protruding wall 10 may be Since end mill E cannot be inserted from the side,
In some cases, processing became virtually impossible.

According to the above machining method, the cutting edge 25 of the end mill 20 is formed on the rake face 24a that is parallel to the tool axis O and forms part of a plane that includes the axis O, and The cutting edge 25 has the same tip angle α as the included angle φ of the lower surface 3a of the supporter 8. By cutting into the upper surface 8a of the supporter 8, two inclined surfaces of the chip mounting surface 9 are formed on the supporter 8 at once. Therefore, according to this embodiment, the chip mounting surface 9 can be formed without changing the setup, and it is possible to eliminate wasted processing time and angular errors of the chip mounting surface 9 due to the setup change. Furthermore, since two inclined surfaces can be formed at once, it is sufficient to prepare one program even when performing NC machining. Furthermore, according to the processing method of this embodiment, the end mill 20 extends only to one side of the supporter 8, so as shown by the two-dot chain line in FIG.
Even if the projecting wall 30 is formed on the other side of the supporter 8, the chip mounting surface 9 can be processed without any problem.

[0020] Also, regarding the end mill 20, the cutting blade 2
Although a solid type in which 5 is integrally molded is described as an example, various other configurations such as a brazing type or a throw-away type are also applicable. Further, the cutting edge 25 does not necessarily have to have a mountain shape corresponding to the tip lower surface 3a, and for example, the cutting edge corresponding to one inclined surface of the tip mounting surface 9 and the cutting edge corresponding to the other inclined surface are The tool may be arranged in a staggered manner, and when the rotation loci drawn by the cutting blades around the tool axis are superimposed on a plane that is parallel to and includes the tool axis, the tip mounting surface 9 It is sufficient if the same shape as the cross-sectional contour is obtained.

Effects of the Invention As explained above, according to the method for processing a chip mounting surface of the present invention, the chip mounting surface can be formed without performing a setup change, thereby eliminating wasted processing time and reducing machining accuracy due to setup changes. Deterioration can be eliminated, and especially when performing NC machining, the chip mounting surface can be formed with one program, which has the excellent effect of reducing the cost required for machining preparation. Further, according to the processing tool of the present invention, since the cutting edge is formed on one end side of the tool body, even if one end side of the part of the holder that should form the chip mounting surface is blocked by a projecting wall, etc., there will be no problem in chipping. An excellent effect can be obtained in that a mounting surface can be formed.
