A rotary dresser in which super abrasive grains such as diamond abrasive grains or CBN abrasive grains are held on the outer peripheral surface or peripheral portion of a wheel (roll) is well known. The degree of wear of the superabrasive grains in the rotary dresser varies depending on the type of grinding wheel and the grinding conditions, but if the wear of the superabrasive grains becomes large, the rotary dresser itself needs to be replaced in order to dress the ground surface well. Needs to be replaced. The conventional rotary dresser is A in Figure 6.
Super abrasive grains 15 are held on the outer circumference 13a of the wheel 13 as shown in the figure, or on the outer circumference 14a of the roll 14 as shown in figure B. In such a conventional rotary dresser, when the particle size of the superabrasive grains is large, the dressing condition of the grinding surface gradually deteriorates as the superabrasive grains wear, and there is a limit to its usability.
Further, when the particle size is small, the life of the rotary dresser as a tool is short, and it is difficult to maintain good dressing of the ground surface.

Grinding wheel 5 that rotates by traversing
When dressing the grinding surface 5a of the wheel 2
Among the superabrasive grains 3 held on the outer peripheral edge 2a of the end face, the superabrasive grains 3 closest to the outer periphery of the wheel 2 dress the grinding surface. is ground by the grinding wheel 5 or scraped off by a layer of abrasive grains of the grinding wheel, so the outer diameter of the wheel 2 decreases as the superabrasive grains 3 wear, fall off, etc.
Similarly, since the holding layer 4 gradually decreases from the outer periphery, new superabrasive grains are gradually exposed and dress the ground surface.

FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of the present invention, in which a rotary dresser 1 is assembled. 6 is the axis, 7
is a fixture for fixing the wheel 2 to the shaft 6, and it can be used to combine a plurality of wheels 2 in the axial direction,
Its outer periphery is aligned to the same cylinder. During dressing, dressing is performed by rotating the rotary dresser 1 and moving it in the axial direction, or by moving the grinding wheel in the axial direction. FIG. 2 shows the wheel 2 shown in FIG. 1, in which an abrasive grain layer 4 is formed and held on the outer peripheral edge 2a of the end face of the wheel 2 by a sintering method using metal powder, an electrodeposition method, etc. let The outer diameter of the abrasive layer 4 is the same as that of the wheel 2.
The diameter is approximately the same as the outer diameter of the In the embodiment, a plurality of wheels 2 are combined, but a rotary dresser composed of a single wheel 2 may also be used. As shown in FIG. 3, the outer circumferential portion 2b of the wheel 2 of the rotary dresser 1 is
The superabrasive grains 3 closest to the outer circumferential portion 2b are slightly exposed as they are ground by coming into contact with the grinding surface 5a of the grinding wheel 5, and are also scraped off by debris such as abrasive grains of the grinding wheel 5. Grinding surface 5 of grinding wheel 5 by abrasive grains 3
a is dressed, and as the superabrasive grains 3 wear and fall off, the retaining layer 4 and the wheel outer periphery 2b
is being ground away, and new superabrasive grains 3 are gradually exposed. Therefore, the grinding surface 5a is always well dressed, and the life of the tool as a rotary dresser can be greatly extended. In the embodiment, superabrasive grains 3 are applied to the outer peripheral edge 2 of the end surface of the wheel 2 by a sintering method, an electrodeposition method, or the like.
Although the abrasive grain layer 4 containing the superabrasive grains 3 is molded separately by a sintering method or the like, and the abrasive grain layer 4 is formed as a separate body by a sintering method or the like, and the abrasive grain layer 4 is sandwiched between the end surfaces of the wheel 2. good. FIG. 4 shows another embodiment, in which an annular groove 9 is provided in the outer circumference 8b of the wheel 8, and superabrasive grains 10 are held in the end surface 9a of the groove 9 by sintering or the like. Good too. In dressing work that involves precision grinding, as shown in Figure 5,
If the maximum wear width L of the superabrasive grains 11 exceeds 0.5 mm, it becomes difficult to properly dress the grinding surface 12a of the grinding wheel 12, so the rotary dresser was replaced at a relatively early stage. In the embodiment of the present invention, superabrasive grains having a particle size of #46 to #80 are used so that the maximum wear width L is approximately within 0.3 mm. Further, since the wheel 2 used in the rotary dresser 1 of the present invention is dressed by the grinding wheel 5 while scraping off the abrasive grain layer 4 and its outer circumferential portion 2b, the wheel 2 can be dressed to suit the grinding conditions. It is necessary to select materials with good properties.
