Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a mastitis-preventing agent containing chitosan (derivative) as an active ingredient, forming stable coating films to prevent the multiplication of pathogenic bacteria in mammilla and inhibiting the invasion of the pathogenic bacteria into the mammilla, and having no irritation on the mammilla. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution or acidic aqueous solution containing chitosan and/or a chitosan derivative in a concentration of 0.1-10% as an active ingredient is prepared, and applied by a spraying or immersing method to form the coating film of the chitosan and/or the chitosan derivative on a mammilla.
