If a vertically elongated radiator is placed on the left and right sides near the front end of the fuel tank, the radiator will be located higher and the pipes for guiding the cooling water will be longer. Furthermore, in the case where the radiator is attached to a down tube that extends diagonally backward and downward from the steering head pipe, muddy water splashed up by the front wheels tends to adhere to the radiator, resulting in the inconvenience that the heat dissipation performance of the radiator deteriorates. Furthermore, some models have a radiator attached to the left and right front forks in front of the steering head pipe, but in this case, the radiator is not only mounted higher and the cooling water piping becomes longer, but the steering wheel is also difficult to maneuver. There was also the issue of becoming. Note that these conventional radiator mounting positions are far from the center of gravity of the entire vehicle body, which is usually located near the engine.
The moment of inertia around this center of gravity increases. For this reason, especially in off-road motorcycles that require sudden steering operations, there has been a problem in that the maneuverability is also deteriorated.

The present invention has been developed in view of these circumstances, and is suitable for reducing weight by making the cooling water piping shorter, making it difficult for muddy water to adhere to the radiator, and making it easier to maneuver the steering handle. A further object of the present invention is to provide a motorcycle that can improve maneuverability by reducing the moment of inertia of the entire vehicle body.

48 is a radiator that cools the cooling water of the engine 40 by the wind from the vehicle. The radiator 48 is erected between the lower surface near the center of the fuel tank 38 and the crankcase 40a so as to be slightly inclined forward. Therefore, a large gap is formed between the radiator 48 and the downwardly sloped portion of the down tube 16. Reference numeral 50 denotes a baffle plate fixed to the front surface of the down tube 16 so as to be located in front of the radiator 48, and the baffle plate 50 has a sideways formed louver in the form of a window that guides the traveling wind to the radiator 48. has been done. Moreover, 52, 52a, and 52b are a pair of left and right mud-proof panels, which are attached so as to connect the left and right side edges of the baffle plate 50 and the left and right side edges of the radiator 48. This anti-mud panel 52 has a vertical louver formed therein to draw wind from the vehicle into the radiator 48. In FIG. 1, G indicates the center of gravity of the entire vehicle body, and this center of gravity G is located near the top of the crankcase 40a, and the radiator 48 is located on this center of gravity G.

Next, the operation of this embodiment will be explained. The driver is seated on the seat 39 as shown by the imaginary line in FIG.
At this time, the knees of both feet are located near the side edges of the radiator 48. While driving, a portion of the airflow passes through the baffle plate 50 from the wide opening between the front lower surface of the fuel tank 38 and the cylinder 40b and hits the radiator 48, and a portion of the airflow also hits the radiator 48. mud panel 52
It hits the radiator 48 from the side of the vehicle through the
(see figure). In this embodiment, the driver's feet act as a baffle plate on the side of the radiator 48 and take in the air flow, so that the cooling performance of the radiator 48 is further improved. The baffle plate 50 has the function of removing mud thrown up by the front wheels 34, and the mud prevention panel 52 prevents mud from hitting the radiator 48 from the sides. In particular, since a vertical looper is formed in the anti-mud panel 52,
The mud adhering to the panel 52 easily slides off due to engine vibration. Also, the radiator 48 has a center of gravity G
Since the radiator 48 is installed nearby, the moment of inertia increases little due to the installation of the radiator 48, and maneuverability does not deteriorate.

In this embodiment, the air guide plate is provided, which has the effect of making it more difficult for mud to adhere to the radiator 48. However, even if these air guide plates are omitted, the mud thrown up by the front wheels 38 will be blocked by the cylinder 40b. Therefore, it is difficult for mud to adhere to the radiator 48, and the desired purpose can be achieved. Further, in this embodiment, the anti-mud panel 52 is used as the side plate, and a louver is provided there, so that the wind from the vehicle is guided to the radiator 48 through the louver, thereby further improving the cooling effect of the radiator 48.

As described above, the present invention forms a space that opens forward between the fuel tank and the engine, and the radiator is installed upright between the fuel tank and the crankcase, making the radiator piping extremely short and lightweight. can be achieved. In addition, a side plate is installed on the side of this radiator that extends toward the upper side of the cylinder, so that the wind that enters the space that is open to the front from between the fuel tank and the cylinder is directed to the front of the radiator without escaping to the side. guided by. This improves the cooling performance of the radiator. Furthermore, since the radiator is located near the center of gravity of the vehicle, the center of gravity of the entire vehicle does not become high, and the moment of inertia does not increase, resulting in poor maneuverability or heavy steering operation. Furthermore, the mud thrown up by the front wheels is blocked by the cylinder, making it difficult for mud to adhere to the radiator.
