Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a sheet having staples oriented in an intermediate direction between X and Y axes or wide staple-oriented sheet by a method wherein a staple-containing rubber is extruded through an annularly-shaped groove of a forming die and cut into A spiral form. CONSTITUTION:A fiber is cut into a length of a few millimeters to make staples, which are added to unvulcanized rubber to be mixed and dispersed therein. The staple-containing rubber thus obtained is cut into the form of a tape or pelletized and fed into an extruding machine 1 through a feed opening 2. The staple-containing rubber 3 so fed is wormed by a screw 4 and, through a forming die 5, is extruded a staple-containing cylindrical rubber body 6, in which the staples are mainly oriented uni-directionally. Such staple-containing cylindrical rubber body 6 is immediately cut into a spiral form by a cutter 10 of a cutter device 7 being rotated circumferentially by a motor 8. The cut staple-containing rubbers are formed into a ribbon-like rubber sheet 11, which are then wound around an automatic take-up machine 12.

It is known that an extruded hose can be formed by extruding through a die such that the radial component of the fiber orientation exceeds the circumferential component of the fiber orientation by extruding it through a die such as R6 is the average radius of the channel entrance. It is conceivable to cut the hose produced by this method into sheets.

For example, as described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 60-219034, a sheet in which a group of short fibers is embedded in an elastic sheet in an oriented manner in the longitudinal direction of the sheet is cut in the width direction perpendicular to the sheet surface. A method for manufacturing a sheet is also known, in which a group of small band-like pieces is formed, the cut surfaces of the small band-like pieces are positioned on the upper and lower surfaces, respectively, and the side surfaces of adjacent small band-like pieces are joined together.

The cut short fiber-mixed rubber becomes a ribbon-like rubber sheet 11, and is wound up by an automatic winding machine 12, or when being wound up, the winding machine 12 cuts the short fiber-mixed rubber cylindrical body 6 into a spiral shape. Ribbon-shaped rubber sheet 11 based on
The sheet is rotated by a rotating device 17 in a direction to untwist it, and is wound onto the main roll 13 as a normal continuous sheet. During this winding, the liner 15 from the auxiliary roll 16 is also wound up. In addition, so that the cut ribbon-shaped rubber sheet always becomes a normal continuous sheet,
The rotation speed of the automatic winder 12 by the rotating device 17 is determined, and the winding speed of the automatic winder 12 is also determined so that the continuous sheet is always wound with a constant thickness.

The cutting angle at which the spiral cutting is performed can be arbitrarily set by adjusting the rotational speed of the cutter 10 with respect to the extrusion speed, so that the short fibers can be cut in any direction between the longitudinal direction and the width direction of the sheet. Oriented sheets can be obtained. Further, by increasing the extrusion speed and decreasing the rotation speed of the cutter 10, a wide continuous sheet can be obtained.
