As a coating method, a slide bead method that allows multilayer coating is generally used. However, in bead coaters such as the slide bead method, the uniformity of the gap between the web and the coating device has a large effect on coating properties. Therefore, the web is generally conveyed in close contact with rigid rolls or the like to maintain bead gaps. Various improvements have been made to roughly increase the stability of the bead, and techniques such as providing a pressure difference (mainly downward pressure reduction) between the top and bottom of the bead have been developed. However, foreign matter attached to or embedded in the surface of the web opposite to the surface to be coated or on the surface of the packing roll narrows the bead gap when the web passes through the coating section, resulting in spot-like uneven coating. . Furthermore, there are many factors that can cause the bead to be disturbed, such as passage of the web through a seam, eccentricity of the web conveyance roll, and uneven driving of the conveyance motor. All of these causes uneven coating, which is a serious defect in the bead coating method.

That is, it is a method of coating by making a coating liquid into a thin film and colliding it with the web at a constant speed or higher. The technology has been disclosed.

し得ることを明らかにした。In the production of silver halide photographic materials, a large number of additives such as spectral sensitizing dyes, surfactants, couplers, etc. are added to the photographic emulsion as necessary, but some of these additives are poorly soluble in water. Various organic solvents are used, including alcohols such as methanol and ethanol. However, as a result of intensive studies, the present inventors have discovered that the use of large amounts of these organic solvents significantly impairs the stability of the falling liquid film in curtain coating. It has been shown that this problem can be solved by doing this.
