As a method of replacing recording paper (transfer paper, photosensitive paper) for a copying machine, recording papers of different sizes and paper qualities are stored in cassettes for each type in advance, and the cassette containing the required recording paper is inserted into the copying machine. The cassette-type paper feeding device, in which the recording paper is loaded into the cassette receiver and fed to the image forming position inside the copying machine using the recording paper feed roller or belt on the copying machine side, is convenient for recording paper replacement operations and is widely used. It has been adopted.

Inside a main body box 2 of a cassette 1 which can be freely attached to and detached from the copying machine main body, there is provided a vertically movable receiving plate 3 for placing recording paper. The recording paper P is piled up on the upper surface of the receiving plate 3, and the bent portion 3A at the rear end is inserted into the opening of the main body box 2 so as to be swingable.
By loading the cassette 1 containing the recording paper P into the cassette holder 10 of the copying machine main body, the flip-up lever 12, which can swing around the rotational shaft 11 of the paper feed device on the copying machine main body side, moves to the above-mentioned position. It comes into contact with the lower surface of the receiving plate 3, and is supported in an upwardly pushing manner by the spring pressure. Further, a feed roller 13 made of a rubber roller or the like provided on the main body of the copying machine elastically contacts the upper surface of the recording paper P at the center in the width direction. Reference numeral 14 is a drive shaft for the feed roller 13, and its position is fixed. Therefore, the lower surface of the recording paper P contacts the flip-up lever 12 and is pushed up, and the uppermost surface contacts the circumferential surface of the feed roller 13 with a predetermined pressure. In this state, by rotationally driving the feed roller 13 in the direction shown by the arrow, the topmost recording paper of the copy paper P is sent out in the direction of extension by utilizing the frictional force between the feed roller 13 and the recording paper. . A sheet of recording paper fed out from inside the cassette 1 is fed in the direction of a guide plate 15 and registration rollers 16, and further sent to an image forming section (not shown).

In the above-described paper feeding device, the topmost position of the recording paper on the stack is affected by the frictional force between the recording papers or the electrostatic attraction generated by sliding with the previously fed recording paper. Not only the recording paper but also the second or subsequent recording paper are fed out in an overlapping manner.
There is a high possibility that so-called multi-sheet feeding will occur. When a plurality of sheets of recording paper are sent out at the same time in this way, not only is the paper wasted, but it also causes paper jams to occur within the main body of the copying machine.

In order to prevent the feeding of multiple sheets of recording paper as described above, in conventional paper feeding devices, paper handling members 4, usually called separation claws, are provided at both ends of the front edge of the cassette 1, respectively. There is. This paper handling member 4 consists of a front portion 4A located at the front in the traveling direction of the recording paper, an upper portion 4B that covers both ends of the upper surface of the recording paper, and an arm-shaped support portion 4C that is integrated with these 4A and 4B. . The other end of this support portion 4C is connected to the rotation shaft 5 of the side wall of the main box 2 of the cassette 1.
It is rotatably supported around the , making it rotatable. Therefore, the upper portion 4B of the paper handling member 4 is
Press the top surface of the recording paper using its own weight or elastic force.
Incidentally, reference numeral 6 denotes a partition plate that slidably supports the side surface of the separating member 4 and is fixed to the inner surface of both side surfaces of the main body box 2.

The paper feeding situation in a paper feeding device having such paper handling members 4, 4 will be explained with reference to FIG. When the feed roller 13 is driven in the direction of the arrow, the frictional force causes the recording paper P 1 in the uppermost position to move in the direction of the arrow (third
(to the right in the figure), but both ends of the paper handling member 4 come into contact with the front part 4A of the paper handling member 4 and are temporarily stopped, and the upper surface of the end part is lightly pressed by the upper part 4B. As a result, as shown in FIGS. 3B and 3C, the portions of the recording paper that follow the above-mentioned ends curve upward to form a loop, and as a result of this deformation, the recording paper is pulled out from the paper handling member 4 and , the recording paper is restored and the paper handling member 4
You will ride it as if you are being repelled upwards. When a plurality of sheets of recording paper are sent out by the feed roller 13, the second and subsequent sheets of recording paper cannot freely curve upward, so the recording sheets are eventually spread and only the topmost recording paper is left. It can pass over the paper handling member 4, thus preventing multiple sheet feeding.

However, in such a conventional paper feeding device, since the paper handling member 4 is rotatably attached to both ends of the front edge of the main box 2 of the cassette 1, when reloading recording paper into the cassette, the paper handling member 4 is Since the paper separating member 4 becomes a hindrance, it is necessary to rotate the paper separating member 4 manually and retract it, and then return the paper separating member 4 to its original state after replenishing the paper, or to remove the paper separating member 4 from the Paper must be replenished while avoiding the upper portion 4B. In any case, loading paper is complicated. Furthermore, in such a paper feeding device, forgetting to reset the paper handling member may cause damage to the paper handling member or the copying machine, or injury to the operator, and may also cause the recording paper to be bent or wrinkled at both ends. There are drawbacks.

(Effects of the Invention) As described above, the present invention positions the separating claws at both corners of the paper feeding position of the cassette by means of the guide cam groove provided at the bottom of the cassette, so that the separating claws can be reliably adapted to the size of the cassette. Since the separating claw moves at right angles to the paper feeding direction, single sheet feeding can be performed accurately. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the edges of the recording paper from folding, curling up, and wrinkles, and also to prevent damage to the main body of the copying machine due to incorrect operation of the separation claw.
