(2) Prior Art It is known that a rod-shaped glass such as a long and narrow band-shaped plate glass is bent into a frame shape and used as a spacer between the upper and lower substrates of a flat fluorescent display tube. When bending this spacer, the bent part is heated and softened with a gas torch before being bent.As shown in FIG. The thickness of the bent portion of the piece 1 becomes thinner, and when used as a spacer for a fluorescent display tube or the like which requires a high vacuum, the leak path becomes short, which is undesirable in terms of reliability.

(3) Purpose of the Invention The object of the present invention is to provide a method of bending and forming a bar-shaped glass plate that prevents thinning of the bent portion of the bar-shaped glass plate, and is particularly suitable for bending a spacer frame of a fluorescent display tube. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a folding method.

(4) Structure and operation of the invention According to the present invention, a step of heating a rod-shaped glass serving as a glass frame for a spacer from one side and bending the glass with the one side inside in a state where the portion to be bent is softened. , after the bending step,
A glass for a spacer, comprising the step of flattening a protrusion of the bent part in the vertical direction by applying pressure to the bent part from a vertical direction substantially perpendicular to the bending plane before the bent part is hardened. A method for forming a frame is obtained.

以下、図面を参照して本発明を説明する。 The present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.

FIGS. 2a and 2b are perspective views illustrating the method of bending the band-shaped glass plate 1 according to the present invention, in which the portion to be bent is heated and softened with the gas torch 2, and then the gas torch 2 is moved to a place where it does not interfere with the bending. Then, quickly push one end 11 of the glass strip toward the spot where the gas torch 2 was. As a result of this process, the thickness of the folded portion does not become thinner, as shown in FIG. 2b, but rather becomes thicker. That is, the softened portion protrudes inward in the thickness direction and also forms a protrusion in the height direction as a spacer. Therefore, when used as a spacer, it is unsuitable as it is. Therefore, in the present invention, as an additional step, as shown in FIG. 3, before the bent portion hardens, the portion protruding in the height direction is quickly pressed with a jig 3 from above and below almost simultaneously to apply pressure and flatten it. Accordingly, a glass frame for a spacer which is preferable as a spacer can be obtained.

It goes without saying that the glass rod to which the present invention is applied is not limited to the illustrated band-shaped glass plate.

FIGS. 4a, 4b, and 4c are schematic plan views illustrating an embodiment of the bending process when forming a spacer frame. As shown in Figure 4a, two parts of the glass piece 1 are heated at the same time with a gas torch, and the two parts are bent almost simultaneously so that they are on the heating side or inside (Fig. 4b), and the protrusions at the bent parts are crushed. After that, the third bent part is heated from the inside as shown in Fig. 4b, and the heated side is bent again as shown in Fig. 4c, and the protrusion at the bent part is crushed. As shown in FIG. 4c, both ends of the bent frame-shaped spacer may be left with a gap for attaching the exhaust pipe, or both ends may be heat-fused as required.

(5) Effects As mentioned above, we were able to prevent the bent portion from becoming thinner by simply bending the glass strip with the heated side facing inside, making it reliable as a frame for spacers such as fluorescent display tubes. We can offer you something of good quality.

In addition, folding with the heating side inward means intentionally bending it toward the side where the gas torch is located, and this was possible because we recognized the problem that the folded part becomes thinner with the conventional method mentioned above. However, it has effects that could not be expected from the conventional technology.
