Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid interruption of current by immediately detecting current having specific ratio with respect to rated current capacity and producing an alarm. CONSTITUTION:Assuming the rated current capacity of a breaker 2 is 30A, a current detector 1 detects current larger than 90% of the rated current capac ity of the breaker 2, 27A in this case, and provides a signal to an alarm unit 3. The alarm unit 3 provides an alarm by sounding an alarm buzzer or lighting an alarm light. If the load current is not suppressed below 30A when the alarm unit 3 functions, the breaker body 2 functions to interrupt the current upon elapse of some time. When the load current is suppressed below 30A upon function of the alarm unit 3, worst condition for a computer, i.e., interruption of current, can be avoided.

Automation of offices and factories in recent years (OA,
As automation (FA) progresses, if the power to computers, facsimile machines, word processors, etc. is suddenly cut off, important data will be lost. With the introduction of many different types of home appliances into the home, there was an increasing chance that breakers would trip due to overuse of electricity in air conditioners, electric kotatsus, microwave ovens, ceramic heaters, etc.

In such a configuration, the rated current capacity of the breaker 2 is, for example, 30A. When a current of 90% of the rated current capacity of the breaker 2, in this case 27 A or more, flows, the current detector 1 detects this and notifies the alarm device 3 of the current. When the alarm device 3 is informed of this, it notifies the person by sounding an alarm buzzer and lighting an alarm lamp. Even if alarm device 3 is activated,
If the load current is not reduced and the load current exceeds 3OA, the breaker main body 2 is activated and the current is cut off after a while. When the alarm device 3 is activated, even if the load current exceeds 3OA, the load current is immediately reduced, thereby avoiding the worst situation for computers, etc., where the current is cut off.

FIG. 2 is a circuit diagram showing the configuration of an electromagnetic breaker according to the present invention. In the figure, a current pickup coil 11 in a current detector 1 picks up current, rectifies it with a diode 12, smoothes it with a capacitor 13, and converts it into direct current. A threshold value for detection sensitivity is provided by the constant voltage diode 14. The resistors 15 and 16 act as current limiting resistors for the constant voltage diode 14, and also act as voltage dividing resistors and current limiting resistors for the voltage applied to the constant voltage diode 1T.

As described above, the present invention has the effect of being able to avoid current interruption, which may cause a large loss, by displaying a warning in advance before current interruption when an overcurrent occurs. In addition, it is extremely effective as a breaker not only for conventional home appliances but also for home use such as personal computers, word processors, facsimile machines, etc. where home automation (HA) is progressing.
