Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare the title freshness-preserving paper which is easy to handle and can absorb the excessive amount of water on or in vegetables or the like with on anxiety of paper breakage, even when it wets, by making fine particles of high water absorption resin hold between the thermoplastic resin layer and the paper layer. CONSTITUTION:Previously, fine particles of high water absorption resin is scattered on the surfaces of a couple of paper sheets to be adhered to each other, having water absorption or water permeation properties and high wet strength and the surfaces holding the high water absorption resin of the couple of the paper sheets are pressed to both surfaces of a melting film of a thermoplastic resin to give the subject freshness-preserving paper. The high water absorption resin is preferably, for example, an acrylic acid-vinyl alcohol copolymer.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION (Field of Industrial Application) The present invention relates to water-absorbing paper that has water-absorbing properties, and is particularly applicable to vegetables and other raw foods and frozen foods that attach water to their surfaces or emit water vapor. It relates to water-absorbent freshness-preserving paper used when transporting goods.

(Conventional technology) In the past, vegetables and other vegetables were harvested in the field and immediately packed into cardboard boxes for transportation, while others were washed to remove soil, etc. and then bundled into a certain amount and packed in cardboard boxes. In order to prevent moisture, newspapers are packed between the vegetables during transportation, and vegetables, flowers, and fruits are sometimes transported in bags filled with ice, etc., inside packaging boxes to maintain freshness. They have lined packaging boxes with newspapers and other materials to absorb the moisture.

Highly absorbent resins that absorb 0 to 1000 times more water have been developed, and sheets made by sandwiching particles of these resins between water-permeable paper or nonwoven fabric can be used as water-absorbing underlays for transportation such as in cardboard boxes. It has come to be used for boxes.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) As mentioned above, when transporting vegetables, flower petals, fruits, etc., especially those grown in fields and packed into cardboard boxes immediately after harvest, the cardboard boxes themselves have good water resistance. However, because of this, water droplets may adhere to the inside of the box, and the water may re-adhere to vegetables etc., causing the parts to rot and become damaged. However, when the paper gets wet with water and tears, it is time consuming to remove the paper when opening the package, and there is a risk of damaging the contents.

Recently, developed super absorbent resins have come to be used by sandwiching them between sheets of paper, but since they are sandwiched between soft, water-absorbing papers, they are difficult to handle. In order to hold the paper in place, the paper is joined by embossing, etc. Furthermore, since water-absorbing paper easily tears when it absorbs water, the outside of the paper is wrapped in water-permeable non-woven fabric that is strong even when wet. The product is inexpensive, easy to handle, has good water absorption, and prevents the absorbed water from re-adhering to the package.
It has become desirable to develop freshness-retaining paper that does not tear and has good water absorption properties.

(Means for Solving the Problems) The present invention provides a highly water-absorbing freshness-preserving insole for use in insoles for fresh vegetables that are harvested with a lot of water droplets attached, packed in cardboard boxes, and transported. The problem can be solved by further improving the water-absorbing sheet that the applicant invented and applied for in June 1988 after various studies aimed at obtaining paper. Fine spherical bodies or powders of synthetic resin polymers such as acid vinyl alcohol copolymers and sodium acrylate polymers are not compatible with thermoplastic resins such as polyethylene and polypropylene when the thermoplastic resin is in a molten state.
We found that the water-absorbing sheet was able to be held in a buried state without welding, and we obtained a water-absorbing sheet that also absorbs water from both sides and has water-absorbing or water-permeable properties for the two sheets of paper on both sides. When laminating paper with a basis weight of 30 to 60 g/rtf with good wet strength using a thermoplastic resin, fine particles of a super absorbent resin are preliminarily dispersed and supported on the bonding surfaces of the two sheets of paper. The solution is to press the superabsorbent resin supporting surfaces onto both sides of a molten thermoplastic resin film, cool it, and bond them together. The water-absorbing freshness-keeping paper of the present invention has a basis weight of 20 to 60 g/paper made from wood pulp, with the addition of chemicals such as epoxy synthetic resin to obtain wet strength, and without the addition of sizing agents. The amount of super absorbent resin held on both sides of the thermoplastic resin may be increased or decreased depending on the required amount of water absorption, so that the thermoplastic resin has a thickness of 10 to 50μ, but it is proportional to the amount. The amount of superabsorbent resin supported may be such that it can absorb 300 to 1500 g of water in total.

(Function) In the water-absorbing freshness-keeping paper according to the present invention, fine particles of super-absorbent resin are held between a paper layer and a thermoplastic resin layer, and the paper layer has water-absorbing or water-permeable properties. It is made of paper or non-woven fabric that has both wet strength and wet strength, so water droplets attached to vegetables etc. absorb water into the paper layer or pass through the paper layer.
It has the effect of absorbing into the superabsorbent resin, and furthermore, the paper layer has wet strength, so it has the effect of preventing tearing even if it is rubbed during transportation.

Example 1 Two sheets of water-resistant paper of 143 g/nf were made without size, using bleached softwood kraft pulp as the main raw material, adding 0.5% by weight of boria straw epichlorohydrin as a water-resistant reinforcing agent. When laminating with molten polyethylene, powder of a superabsorbent resin made of sodium acrylate polymer with an average particle size of 40μ is uniformly applied to the bonding surfaces of two sheets of waterproof paper so that the amount is about 4g per square meter of each. A molten thin film of molten polyethylene with a thickness of about 30 μm was stacked on top of each other, compressed, and cooled to obtain freshness-retaining paper.

The one that can be cut into 3cm x 55cm pieces is exactly like a thin paperboard, so even if you hold it by one end, it won't sag from the middle, making it easy to handle. When storing the leaves in a container, a few sheets were placed as an underlay or an insole, sealed, and a transport test was conducted. As a result, the freshness-preserving paper absorbed water droplets, and the leaves were not damaged due to water exposure.

(Effects of the Invention) As described above, the present invention is made by laminating paper with water absorption or water permeability and wet strength with a thermoplastic resin, so it is easy to handle, and it also has high water absorption properties. Since the resin powder is held between the paper and the thermoplastic resin membrane, excess water from packaged vegetables, flowers, fruits, etc., which can cause spoilage, can be absorbed and transported without the risk of re-wetting the packaged items. It is possible. In addition, because the paper itself has rigidity, conventional products are thin and too flexible, making them difficult to work with, and bending according to the shape of the package, which is about 20% of the inner dimension of the packaging box in the longitudinal direction. It used to be necessary to use a long piece of paper, but since it only needs to be the same size as the inside size of the packaging box, the cost is reduced accordingly.Furthermore, the paper on both sides has good wet strength, and is laminated with thermoplastic resin. Because it is made of plastic, there is no risk of it tearing or peeling off even if it gets wet and sticking to the package.Furthermore, by taking advantage of its property of not tearing even when it gets wet, it absorbs water equivalent to the amount of water absorbed by super absorbent resin. By absorbing water and then freezing the sheet, it is useful as it can also be used as cold insulation paper.
