Abstract

PURPOSE:To sterilize activated carbon by ultraviolet rays and to eliminate the propagation of various bacteria in activated carbon by dividing a water passing route facing an ultraviolet sterilizing lamp into two upper and lower space parts by a filter and filling one space part with activated carbon by a volumetric amount smaller than the volume of said space. CONSTITUTION:The water flowing in a hollow cylindrical container 2 from an inflow port 7 passes through a filter 6 to enter the bed of activated carbon 5 and moves to a space part 10 through a filter 4 while the residual chlorine, trihalomethane and malodorus substance in said water are removed. At this time, activated carbon 5 is irradiated with ultraviolet rays by an ultraviolet sterilizing lamp 3 but, since activated carbon 5 is fluidized by the water stream flowing through the activated carbon 5, the greater part of the surface of activated carbon 5 is irradiated with ultraviolet rays to kill various bacteria adhered to activated carbon 5. Next, since the water moved to the space part 10 is also irradiated with ultraviolet rays, various bacteria in water are killed. The sterilized clean water flows out of an outflow port 8 to be used as drinking water.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to a water purifier for purifying and sterilizing water, particularly for use in homes.

The inside of the hollow cylindrical container 16 is divided into an inner space and an outer space in the axial direction, an ultraviolet sterilizing lamp 12 is arranged in the inner space, activated carbon 13 is arranged in the outer space, and the air flows from the inlet l4. The water to be introduced is guided from the outer circumference side space through the inner circumference side space to the outlet 15, and is purified by activated carbon 13 and an ultraviolet germicidal lamp 12. In this water purifier, the activated carbon 13 is densely packed in the outer peripheral space, and since the activated carbon removes residual chlorine in the water, with this structure, a large amount of bacteria will grow in the activated carbon if water is not used for a long period of time. However, when drinking water, the water is sterilized by ultraviolet rays, which kills germs, but the dead bodies are drunk, which is not desirable. Additionally, UV rays have no sterilizing effect unless they are directly irradiated with bacteria, so if there are a large number of bacteria, they may hide behind the bacteria and emerge without dying.

The gist of the present invention is that in a water purifier in which an ultraviolet germicidal lamp 3 is built into a cylindrical container 2 from top to bottom in the axial direction, a water passage facing the ultraviolet germicidal lamp 3 is connected to the axis by a filter 4. Divide into upper and lower halves, and place 5 activated carbon in one space.
The water purifier is characterized in that the water purifier is filled with a volume smaller than the space volume.

That is, when the container containing the ultraviolet germicidal lamp 3 is divided into two and one space is loosely filled with activated carbon, when water is being used,
The activated carbon is sterilized by irradiating it with ultraviolet rays while flowing the activated carbon, and at the same time sterilizes the water in the other space with ultraviolet rays.

Since the volume of activated carbon is smaller than the volume of the space filled with activated carbon, when water flows, the activated carbon flows due to the water flow. Therefore, most of the surface of the activated carbon is irradiated with ultraviolet rays, killing germs attached to the activated carbon.
