Abstract

PURPOSE:To optimize setting of image forming conditions, replacement of an image forming means and a maintenance period by allowing a main control part to utilize information taken out by a resistance connected between a grounded high-voltage side load circuit and a booster device. CONSTITUTION:The booster device inputs feedback information VR taken out by the feedback resistance R of the high-voltage side load circuit to the main body control part. The main control part informs the replacement of an image forming body 1 with the aid of a display means when the feedback information VR exceeds a prescribed value, and stabilizes the density of a recorded image by varying a bias voltage applied to the developing sleeve 4a of a developing device 4 through the use of a bias power source according to the feedback information VR. Thus, the setting of image forming conditions, replacement of the image forming means and the maintenance period are optimized.

[Conventional 0) Techniques ii, r) In the image forming apparatus described above, information (also referred to as feedback information) taken out by a resistor connected between the control unit of the low voltage side power supply circuit of the booster and the ground of the high voltage side load circuit. It is known that the control unit of the booster or the high-voltage side load circuit is controlled to stabilize the current or voltage based on the input information. However, there has been no use of feedback information for purposes other than stabilizing high-voltage currents and voltages.

The present inventors believe that the above-mentioned feedback information is affected by the charging potential and resistance of the image forming body, and the dirtiness of the charger, so the feedback information is important for stabilizing the high voltage current and voltage in the booster. We believe that this method can be used to set image forming conditions other than image forming, to maintain image forming bodies, and to determine when it is time to replace them. That is, an object of the present invention is to provide an image forming apparatus that utilizes feedback information obtained from a high-voltage side load circuit of a booster for purposes other than stabilizing high-voltage current and voltage.

The image forming body 1 is rotated in the direction of the arrow, the surface of the image forming body 1 is cleaned by a cleaning device (not shown), and a voltage of 24 V is applied to the low voltage side power supply circuit from a booster or boosting power source. When the circuit is turned on and off by the control unit, a discharge voltage is applied to the discharge wire 2a of the charger 2 by the high-voltage load circuit, so that the charger 2 uniformly charges the cleaning surface of the image forming body l. An image exposure device (not shown) inputs image exposure 3 from the document onto the charged surface to form an electrostatic image, a developing device 4 develops the electrostatic image into a toner image, and the toner image is converted into a toner image. A transfer device transfers the image onto a recording paper fed to the image forming body 1 by a paper feeding means (not shown), the recording paper is separated from the image forming body 1 by a separator, and the 1-stage image of the recording paper is drawn. The fixing device (not shown) fixes the
Then, the recording paper is sent out of the machine, and the surface of the image forming body l on which the toner image has been transferred is cleaned by the cleaning device, and the next image formation is performed again. After this is repeated, the image forming process is stopped and the image forming process is completed.

In this image forming step, the booster inputs the feedback information VR taken out by the feedback resistor R of the high voltage side load circuit to the control section of the low voltage side power supply circuit, and the control section inputs the feedback information VR to the control section of the low voltage side power supply circuit.
On/off control of the low-voltage side power supply circuit using a transistor is performed based on R, thereby stabilizing the discharge voltage applied to the discharge wire 2a of the charger 2. The booster further inputs feedback information vR to the main body control section. The illustrated main body control section uses a comparator or the like to inform that it is time to replace the image forming body I or to clean the charger 2 when the feedback information vR reaches a predetermined value or more, and to bias the image forming apparatus according to the feedback information VR. The bias voltage applied to the developing sleeve 4a of the developing device 4 is changed by the power source, thereby stabilizing the density of the recorded image.
