Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the electrical length of a connector part and enable the reduction of a signal delay by applying the constitution wherein each free end of spring pieces as a pair for forming a female contactor is bent inward for use as a surface for contact with a male contactor, and the edge of the contact surface is tapered for sideward guiding the male contactor. CONSTITUTION:The tips of conductive cantilever type spring molds 15 and 15' as a pair for forming a female contactor 13 are bent inward approximately at right angles, and the opposite edges 16 and 16' thereof form surfaces for contact with a male contactor. In addition, the ends of the edges 16 and 16' are provided with tapers 17 and 17' for guiding a module for connecting the male contactor thereof. In the aforesaid connector, the tips of the contactor 13 are bent inward and the height of a connector housing can be reduced correspondingly and the effective length of the male contactor of the module can be reduced. The electrical length of the connector part, therefore, is reduced and a signal delay time is shortened.

Ceramic substrates allow for fine wiring and high-density packaging, but compared to this, the packaging density of the connector part is low, and the signal delay time at the connector is the bottleneck for increasing the speed of electronic computers. For example, in the conventional connector shown in FIG. 4, the connector housing 1 is
As the height of the structure becomes higher, it is necessary to increase the effective length of the male contactor 22 accordingly. As a result, the electrical length of the connector portion increases, and the signal delay time increases.

FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of an embodiment of a female contact accommodated in a connector of the present invention. The tips (free ends) of the pair of conductive cantilever-shaped spring pieces 15 and 15' forming the main female contact 13 are bent inward at almost right angles, and the opposing end faces 6, 16' becomes the contact surface with the male contactor. Further, at the ends of the end surfaces 16° and 16', tapers 17 and 17' are provided for guiding the male contacts of the module when mating.
is provided. When fitting the male contact of the module to the female contact 13, after inserting the male contact into the rectangular insertion hole 12 on the connector housing II shown in FIG. By moving, the male contact will be guided by the tapers 17, 17' and will fit into the female contact 13.
